I wrote my note in 2000. Since then, I have found my Mahala married to John Thornton in 1844 in Henry Co. Then in 1850 she was living with a Pettit family. In 1851 she married a Vandagriff. In 1860 she was living with Isaac Stokley family (she seems to have a lot of ties with the Stokleys)--In 1870 she was living with her daughter Amanda's family. I can't find her in 1880--but I think she died (as a Vandagriff) in 1907. I think my John Thornton's father was Caleb Thornton and some say his father was Daniel. Do these names sound familiar?
