Noble Cropper married Nancy Foster in Franklin Co., KY. on about 14 Sep 1802. Nancy was the daughter of Alexander Foster, a Revolutionary War veteran from Pennsylvania. He was later in Rockbridge Co., VA. before going to Kentucky. He died in 1843 in Montgomery Co., Indiana. Noble and Nancy's marriage bond reads as follows: We Noble Cropper and Alexr. Foster are held and firmly bound to James Garrard Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the penal Sum of one Hundred pounds Currant money to be paid to the said Governor or his successors to the true performance of the above we bind our selves, our heirs &c firmly by these presents Sealed with our seal and dated this 14th day of September 1802. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be had and Solomnized between the above bound Noble Cropper and Nancy Foster, of this County now if there is no lawfull cause to obstruct the said Marriage then the above obligation to be Void else remain in full force and Virtue. Foster Father to Nancy Foster Noble Cropper was the son of Bela Cropper, but he also had a brother named Bela Cropper and the two are hard to sort out at times. The Croppers were from Worcester Co., Maryland, where land records indicate that Bela Cropper, Snr's. wife may have had the maiden name Cathell (various spellings). Noble Cropper's daughter, Elizabeth M. Cropper, married Benjamin Franklin Browning on 13 Dec 1831 in Henry Co., KY. They were my 4th great grandparents. Steve Loose
