Dear Watkins researchers, I am intimately acquainted with the Watkins cemeteries in Henry County. With the help of my mother and cousins, I was involved in the restoration and fencing of these two family cemeteries in 1995. The cemetery on Giltner Road in Smithfield to which Dave refers is indeed, as Dave says, the cemetery of Evan Watkins 1744-1831. This area was his land and the cemetery contains his body and the bodies also of his son Evan Jr, Jr's wife Rachel Rouner and their son Joseph, age 23. The other known sons of Evan Jr. were Joseph, Felix, Squire, and another son whose name we do not know. This is exciting, Dave..... as I have a date of ca.1817 for the birth of this unnamed son. He could be your Thomas L., though I looked at the names you submitted for his children and don't see the names I would expect such as an Evan or a Rachel. I will contact a cousin to see if he has any info that I do not have. The other cemetery, on Jackson Road, was on the farmland of Evan Sr.'s son, Isaac Watkins 1773-1857 (my line), a brother of Evan, Jr. This cemetery contains the bodies of three generations of the family of Isaac and his wife Sarah Pringle. Isaac and Sarah's sons were George, Mirven, and John Pringle. Marilyn Lewis
