    1. Re: Anyone know why Henry county couples would go to Jeffersonville
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/4AB.2ACI/449.1 Message Board Post: Hey Vernon, I'm not an expert on this, but from what I've been told, there was no waiting period in Indiana. Neither was there a blood test requirement. It was a same-day marriage as if you'd eloped out of state. You would get your license at the time of the marriage ceremony by the justice of the peace. I've found Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana to be the marriage choice for many families in my tree from just about every county around here, including Henry. Their marriage database has to be an extraordinary one. My parents lived in Prospect, Jefferson County and still went to Jeffersonville to get married. They wanted it all done the same day....and they married in 1956. I'm not so sure Jeffersonville has fallen out of favor yet......since Kentucky no longer has a blood test requirement.....but there still is that waiting period.
