There are plenty of motels in Carrollton out by the interstate, which would quickly take a person over to Henry County. Holiday Inn, Super 8, Days Inn, and a couple of others. Wilson Inn? Hampton Inn? I'm not sure of all them. General Butler State Park Lodge in Carrollton is highly regarded, I think. It's only a few minutes further from the interstate than the motels. It's number is 800-325-0078. You can probably find 800 reservation numbers for the chain motels in your local phone book or by calling the local chain motel where you live. Friend died 1919 in Henry County, KY. Buried in Eminence Cem. His death certificate indicates father was Isaac, which appears to be Issac Burgin Friend m. Celia Dixon in Floyd County, KY. This line of Friends appears to tie to the Friends of Harpers Ferry, VA, WVA areas including Monroe County. A volunteer in Henry County could not find an obit for Henry W. Friend, died July 16, 1919. I have no clue as to why Henry is in this part of KY, though further generations stay in the area. Is anyone else researching folks from Floyd, Pike, Lawrence, or Greenup County, KY that might have ties to the Friends in Henry County? Has anyone seen any deeds, will, military, census etc with reference to the Friend family? Known suspects include Friend, Brown, Vaughn, Kelly, Kelley, Dixon, Costigan, and perhaps Keen. Am at a real loss here and hoping someone savvy on Henry County can point me in the right direction. Joyce

The cost is $.25 (library printer cost) per page for an estimated 280 pages. Once I receive the total of $70 from one or more persons, I will print the images from microfilm, scan them in at a high resolution, and commit the images to disk(s). I will happily provide copies of the disk(s) to every one who helps me fund this task. I will also donate to USGenWeb and Rootsweb siting the sponsers. I also plan on creating an index and typing out all of the info on the hard copies. This will also be included on the disk. Unfortunatly, I can not afford the entire copying fee on my own. I estimate that it will take me about 3 weeks to scan in the hard copies, and anywhere from 1-3 months to type everything in. Sincerely Yvonne Fredericks 1018 Wakefield Drive Garland, TX 75040

Hi Again-- Just one additional note -- information on families with several marriage links to the Wainscott/Winscott family has been gathered into a book titled "Wainscott Cousins". It serves as a useful companion book to "The Wainscott/Winwscott Family of VA, NC and KY." The families included in the book are: Baker, Elrod, Roberts, Stice, Razor, Stringfellow, McMains, Wymore, and Marsh/March/Martz. For more information on contents and how to order a copy, please contact me directly. Sue
Hi Everyone-- I just want to let you know that an updated edition of the book "The Wainscott/Winscott Family of VA, NC and KY" has just been published. Many of the Wainscotts lived in Henry County. The first publication (in 1999) prompted many people to contribute more names in their branch of the family. As a result, about 1500 names have been added. Also, 23 maps have been added showing county boundaries as they existed in the 1700s and 1800s, for states where most Wainscotts lived. For more information on contents and how to order a copy, please contact me directly. Sue Streett
