I am not sure where she got the information from. She knows a lot of the family history. I have not found any documentation on any of these as I cannot place William McDowell who married Robert Ellen Smith in the family via any documentation other than family knowledge from his grandchildren. Could it be Robert Andrew McDowell or do you have proof on Andrew. I really would like to exchange data with you on this line. William married a second time and had a son possibly named Wade and a daughter name unknown that the family knew about.

This record was published in Vol XVI, September 1991, No. 3, starting on page 1 of the Quarterly Review, published by the Henry County Historical Society. There were no other McDowells and no Stones in this record. In another record of this church (from 1826-51) hand copied by Emma DeWitt Voorhees Meyer there is a "Fantleroy Dowdell" L 1825 Feb". She noted these hand written records were faded and hard to read so possibly this was "McDowell" . Many of these names had D L written after them and Mrs. Meyer wrote that this meant given a letter of dismissal but she didn't say what just L meant. Hope this helps. Adele
