Listmembers: I have ancestors named Messick who lived in KY at one time. Around 1820-30 there was a Messick P.O. in Henry Co., Liberty Township. I would appreciate any information about this P.O. Does anyone know for whom it was named? Thank you. Jean
Would one of you kind folks on the Henry Co. mail list send me directions on how to get to the Mitchell-Coleman Cemetery. I sure do appreciate it. Earl

Having a lot of trouble with the too-common name. My John Roberts, Jr. born abt 1808 in MO or IL married Lucinda Adams/Gatlin. John died February 1890, age 82, near Poco, Pope Co IL. His daughter Lucinda born abt 1844 IL, died 10-8-1924 IL, married Francis Marion English PRYOR on 4-21-1864 in Massac Co IL. He died in Civil War 8-6-1864 in the Battle of Atlanta. She then remarried Newton A. HOUSE 10-8-1872 in Massac Co. Another daughter John's married a PRYOR. Mary Ann (Mollie/Polly) Roberts born abt 1841 (some say 1-10-1842) IL and died 3-3-1916 IL/ARK. She had previously married Benjamin F. Woodward, he died in Civil War. Then she married my direct line, Daniel Risinger PRYOR, on 12-28-1862. I am trying to learn more about the Roberts' and to see if the Roberts' and Pryor's knew each other before coming to IL. My Pryor's were in Livingston Co KY, in Louisville KY around the time Louisville was first founded, and a little later in Jefferson Co (the portion which became Henry Co and Shelby Co). I don't know of any other counties or locations for KY. Before coming to KY, the Pryor's were in VA, county unknown. Other families involved were TANNERs. If you see any connection, please let me know. Otherwise, I will hold onto your information and keep looking for a possible connection. Thanks much. (I find the clerk's staff helpful and attentive but somewhat short handed and not prone to have much time to help researchers.) The other option may mean the book "Abstract of Early Kentucky Wills and Inventories" by J. Estelle Stewart King, 1933, reprinted 2000. Amos Little is listed as having a will in Henry County "Book B", the page in not specified. If memory serves me from about 1 year ago, the Henry County Historical Society, by now, may have microfilms records that should include the wills and/or deeds. I suggest contacting the Historical Society or perhaps the Henry County Library which is located in Eminence, Kentucky. Hope this helps, Harold Morgan

Surnames: Wills Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4AB.2ACI/299 Message Board Post: I'm looking for a local person in Henry Co. Ky. who can confirm the location of the home of J.E.Wills. The 1884 Atlas shows the location I believe is the house to be 2 miles east of highway 421on Watkins Lane and north 3/10of a mile on Bush Lane. The house is located about 500 feet west of a small creek and a concrete bridge. A root cellar is located just to the left of the house. If my location is correct, I believe this house to be the boyhood home of W.C. Wills and his sister Pearl Wills. W. C. Wills went on to play football for UK in 1898 on the best team UK has ever fielded, undefeated, untied , unscored upon. Local confirmation of the house would be appreciated.

(maiden name unknown). They had 6 daughters and one son: William Andrew H. Dunaway. One daughter was Jimina Sophronia Jane Dunaway, b. 29 Oct 1838 in Bedford Co, TN. She married George WAshington Straub Oct 10, 1855, and died Sept 21, 1907 in Boaz, Graves Co, KY. They had seven children. William Andrew H. Dunaway married three times. One of his wives was Joicy Evaline BROWNING. She was the mother of their 8 children whose names I have with some birthdates and spouses. Do you see any connection? I am thinking perhaps your William and my Charles were brothers since so many of the names are alike. I have hit a brick wall trying to find Charles' parents, but maybe we can help each other. My Dunaways were in McCracken co, KY in mid 1850's and previously in Tennessee (Linclon and Bedford counties, maybe others.)
