The Elder Chester Aldridge (Founder and Pastor of Pentecostal church in Eminence) was my grandfather. Fallis & Rebecca were buried in Trimble County, KY. I didn't know they ever lived in Indiana. Many of their sons and daughters are buried there too. Leta Horine (Cleo's daughter) has posted some pictures of Cleo on the Trimble County website. I have pictures of Fallis and Rebecca, as soon as I have time to post them. My mother's family used to visit them in Bedford, KY on Sundays and they would go to church all day. As a little girl she was not very happy with that. I have just started this genealogy thing and have not gone back any further than Leonard & Susanah Rice, so all of these messages are confusing. Can you email me specifics on them so I know where to go from here? Also Fallis' parents were listed in his obit as Mr. & Mrs William Aldridge, with no name for his mother. I even found a reference to a death certificate for Mrs. William Aldridge. What was her name? Chester married Mary Ann Vest, who lived in Bethlehem, IN. and I have a lot of info on her family. I love to visit Henry County too. I have a crew of aunts and uncles who want to help me do research at the Henry County Library and Courthouse as soon as I can get the time off work. Where should I start? Library or Courthouse? Thanks for the help.

KY. I located this family in Lockport KY in Henry Co KY in 1860. The head of household was William. A son Warren was born in the 1860's and married Lucinda Goodrum, Feb. 5, 1895. Supposedly, William or James died in the mid 1870's. I have not located the family for 1870. Elizabeth Sutherland married a John Payne. On Warren's death certificate, his father's name is listed as being James. So there is some confusion as to which Sutherland is Warren's father. Does anyone know anything about this family prior to 1880. I have information on Warren and Lou, my great grandparents, if anyone is interested. Thank you.

Your info on the Ransdells fits with what I have since learned. I lucked out and found a very knowledgeable Ransdell researcher who has my Matilda Ransdell as the likely daughter of John and Elizabeth (Chinn) Ransdell. Her father died before her marriage to John Elston, so no positive will reference to her husband’s surname. My source believes Matilda was born in Fayette Co., KY, before her family moved to Henry Co., where she was married. My source descends from her older brother Wharton Ransdell, b. ABT 1777 in Fauquier Co., VA. Regarding your question, I have the children of Edward Hayden and Elizabeth (Nancy?) Elston as being: Nancy Hayden b. ABT 1838 James Hayden b. ABT 1839 Elizabeth Hayden b. ABT 1841 John Hayden b. ABT 1844 Laurinda Hayden b. ABT 1846 Lewis Hayden or Levi Hayden b. ABT 1847, probably d. BEF 1860 Sarah Catherine Hayden b. ABT 1849 Mary Hayden b. 22 Mar 1852 Mill Creek, KY The above came from "The Elston Family in America" by James Strode Elston, 1942. The book, while noting a possibly mistaken reference to Edward’s wife as Nancy, does not carry these Hayden children further, so I can’t provide more. The reason I have the page copied from the book with these children is that their mother, Elizabeth Elston, was the sister of my ancestor Willett Elston, son of John Elston and Matilda Ransdell. I normally don’t search for or document children of siblings of ancestors. I hope the above will be of some help. Kent

All of these families (and the Elstons too) were members of the Sulphur Fork Church of Regular Baptists at Campbellsburg. I don't know the answer to your question of Matilda Ransdell's parentage but I know the church records in 1809 show Edward, John, Thomas, and Wharton Ransdell, Lucy & Polly Ransdell and David, Edy, Margaret, and Mary Elston. Do you know the descendants of Edward Hayden and Elizabeth/Nancy Elston? I'm searching for the Hayden husband of Eva Robinson (or Robertson) Hayden. It is difficult sorting these families out! Druzilla Adams who married Ed Harper Diddie Harper died in Woodford Co( I have the year) I've seen her picture, I used to borrow it from my Payton cousins' The informant on her death certificate was (can't remember) but he was the son of the George Adams who married Elizabeth Troxell. Does this mean that George Adams, Sara Jane Adams Troxell and Druzilla Adams Harper were brothers and sisters. Sarah father was David Adams (ITS IN STONE) The PROBLEM The Duell Clark funeral home records also have George Adams & Family, most of the Troxell & family and a David Adams who mother was a Sarah Downey(she was born in KY) he was not. Since we had met, my husband d. 96' and I sold my estate out and moved to Monticello, Wayne Co., Ky and back to Bardstown, north, this time. A young lady with a tank hit me in Jan 2000 the week I moved out of Balltown, so, I have a groovy neck and lower back that does it's own thing. What I put in the Henry Co. Historical Society Book is TENATIVE, so, don't take everything with a grain of salt, I felt liked our families needed a little recognition. I didn't see where anyone else had. I love going to Henry Co, it's a great trip to get away. I do beieve you are right on - Sarah Jane Adams's parents, I believe her mother was married 3 times (once to my Richard Bennet, father of Francis Jane "Thankful J." Bennet m. James Willan Aldridge, Jr. 1864. That is awsome... could you mail me a copy of what you found at the Duell-Clark funeral home records, as to Elizabeth Troxell Adams d.c., listing her mother as Nancy Hammonds? The reason I ask, there is another researcher that keeps saying Nancy was a Darbough, and that George Troxell m. her in Scott Co., Tenn., where is their proof? I still say, Nancy was a Hammonds, and in the census (forget which year), she states she was a Hammonds, and I believe it was her father,John living with them in that same census. It is possible our George Troxell was John of Shelby Co's son, as Tommye theorizes, but I haven't got into even checking dates. And I never asked Tommye if her John was ever in Augusta Co., VA. My theory is George Troxell belonged to Peter, s/o of David (brother to George Jacob, the Cherokee line from Wayne Co., KY & this would explain where the Indian is in our line, for George Jacob was a half-breed Delaware Warrior) . The Peter that I did research on in Augusta Co., Va. m. Rachael Chambers there. I wonder if this is possibly our Peter, son of David & father of our George? (hope this in not confussing you more!!!). Leonard Boren and Susannah Rice Troxell, had two children, I guess you know, and apparently they were twins, for they have the same birth year. This family moved into here, Nelson Co., ca, 1915, and their son, Elijah left a will. This is ca. the same time that George Henry Troxell (m. to Maranda Aldridge, she apparently d. after their 1st child born) and Lydia Aldridge, Issac Newton Aldridge, all of them moved into Nelson Co., following the railroads for work. I know where they are all buried. You must go see the TROXELL HOMESTEAD in Allentown, Leheigh Co., Penn. while your in MD, it made my life, I just wish gr.mother, Trixie (she was named that because of the 15 years between her siblings, her father said it was a trick!!) could have known about it and seen it. I'm trying to get my mother to see it it,she's 73 now. Please keep in touch, by the way, how are you so lucky to get to travel ???
