Parents were James and Sarah (Clark). James was born around 1870 and Sarah about 1873. Children of James and Sarah (as of 1910) were Henry (1894), Laura (1897), Herman (1899), Myrtle (1902 or 3), Jesse (?) (1904) and Shelby (1900). Birth years for children are approximate, judging by age given in census. In 1910 they lived in the Port Royal Precinct of Franklinton, Henry County KY. Do any of these people appear in your data? Thank you. Elizabeth

You and I are triple cousins - 4th cousins on Mary Jane Penn, 5th cousins on Daniel Beauregard Penn, & 4th cousins on Nancy Ann Henderson! I'll try to briefly outline your family below: Penn Families: Benjamin Penn Jr (1753-1827) and his wife Rebecca Ryan (1760-1840) of Anne Arundel Co, MD, had several children, two of whom were Joseph Penn and Noah Penn. The Joseph Penn listed above married Mary Winter and they had several children, three of whom were John Ryan Penn, born ca 1818 (father of Mary Jane Penn); Charles Penn, born ca 1824 who married Martha Johnson; and Margaret Ann Penn (1828-1907) my 2nd-great-grandmother who married James Madison Henderson. Noah Penn, brother of Joseph Penn, married Mary Deakins and one of their several children was John Penn, born Dec 1825, died 1903, who married Nancy Ann Henderson. (Nancy Ann and James Madison Henderson were brother and sister, both being the issue of James Henderson and Nancy Brown.) Daniel Beauregard Penn first married Fronie Jackson Payton and had a son Oscar. He then married Mary who was his 2nd cousin. It really gets conplicated when there is so many interfamily marriages. If you happen to have access to the 1880 Henry Co Ky census, you'll find the following families living in Pleasureville: household # 60 = John Ryan Penn (your 2nd-great-grandfather) living with Elizabeth & Joseph Thurman. household #61 = Margaret Henderson, widow (my 2nd-great-grandmother who was a sister to John Ryan Penn next door.) household #62 = John R Henderson (son of Margaret Henderson in HH #61) household #63 = Charles & Martha Penn (brother to John Ryan Penn & Margaret Penn Henderson) So, you can see the family all lived close. I would be very interested in knowing what Penn & Henderson information you have, expecially if you have any pictures. Please let me know if you need further clarification.

Surnames: Penn, Henderson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/4AB.2ACI/62.161.2.1 Message Board Post: I am very interested in your research on the Penn and Henderson families. The 1900 Henry Co. census lists: (Bourigard Penn (looks more like Pem) born Sep 1862, Mary Jane wife, and four children: Emma P. dtr, William W. son, Ahah(?) son, Nancy dtr. ) The Ahah is actually Alvah B. Penn, my grandmother. For some reason, the census always lists her as a boy! I am trying to prove who Alvah's grandparents were. I am told from my father's records that the father of Daniel Beauragard Penn (Bourigard) was John Thomas Penn Senior,(1825/32-1903/04) and his mother was Nancy Ann Henderson (1830-1918). His mother, Mary Jane Penn, is the daughter of John Ryan Penn (1818-?) and Millicent Wilhite of Millicent Sweatman, of Owen County, KY. Millie, as she was known, may be Millie Lock of EK Junction, KY. After Daniel Beauragard passed away, his wife, Mary Jane Penn, married his brother John Thomas Penn in 1910. The marriage certificate lists Ryan Penn as her father and Lillie Penn of Owen Co. Ky as her parents. I have seen some researchers registers that list Charles Penn and Martha Johnson as Mary Jane Penn's parents. If you have anything you can share that would shed light on the lineage of Daniel Beauragard Penn and Mary Jane Penn, I would be most appreciative. If you like, I can make some copies of what I have, pictures etc. and send them to you.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4AB.2ACI/371.1.1 Message Board Post: Thank you so much for this census. This is a BIG help! Last night I found on familysearch.com where Emily C. Dowden married Norris I. Williams on 18 AUG 1857 in OLDHAM CO.. KY...... I can see that since her mother was Charlotte....that this is who she named her daughter "Lottie" after. Probably Lottie's name was actually Charlotte as well, and that no doubt is what the C. is for in Emily's middle name. ** At any rate....My great-great grandmother & daughter of Emily C. Dowden-Williams name was Lottie Williams and, was born 27 NOV 1858, in HENRY CO. I assume she was the first child born. I don't know if other children were born to this union or not. Is there a census on Norris I. Williams 1860 and beyond? ** "This where I start getting confused".....my great-grandmother (daughter of Lottie Williams) was born 9 NOV. 1877 in Mt. Washington (BULLITT CO..KY). Her name was Nettie Ree Hardman. Now, on my great-grandmother's death record (Nettie Ree Hardman)...it states she is the daughter of Dave HARDMAN & Lottie COLLINS. ???? And, on my great-great-grandmother's death record (Lottie)...it states her parents being Norris Williams & Emma Dowden. From this I gather that Lottie's maiden name was indeed WILLIAMS. Where does this COLLINS come in at? Was Lottie Williams married to a man by the last name of COLLINS...after she was married to Dave HARDMAN? I am thinking this may be the only name that the informant knew her by. (1) I have no idea when Norris Williams died...must have been befor 1911. The ones on the KY Death Index, the ages don't match up. His wife...Emily C. Dowden-Williams died 05-10-1937 at the age of 88 in BREATHITT CO. ( JACKSON ) (2) I have no idea when Dave Hardman died or what county. (3) Who is COLLINS? (4) Was there a divorce between Nathaniel & Charlotte DOWDEN? (5) Was there a divorce between Dave HARDMAN & Lottie WILLIAMS? Or, did he die first...if so when? (These would be my great-great grandparents) ** Nettie Ree Hardman was married 6 JAN 1895 to Francis Marion FARRIS.....according to the family Bible. NO MARRIAGE RECORD has been found. I would LOVE to find this record. These are my great-grandparents and in 1900 they lived in SHELBY CO. & on the 1920 census on they are in JEFFERSON CO. ....they lived the majority of their married life and are buried in JEFFERSON Co. I can't find them on the 1910 census anywhere. Do you have a book or disk that would answer some of these questions for me? This has become a real dilemma! Or, do you know how I might find some of these answers? I "REALLY" appreciate you taking the time to help me.....this sure is a puzzle. But it seems the counties they lived in were all next to each other. Thank You From The Bottom of My Heart! Sincerely, Linda Farris Antal - cantal@cinci.rr.com

Hi list: I'm still trying to locate anything on James Duncan, wife, Asenath Browning Duncan, that moved to Henry County in 1802. From reports I've had, he supposedly died in Gallatin County in November, 1823, but I know for sure, he was in Henry County until 1813. I've gone through numerous microfilm trying to locate him. He is on early Tax Lists, but not on Census'. His sons and daughters are all there, Reuben, James, William, Willis, Mary m. Rev. George Strother, Sallie/Sarah m. Capt. Jack Pryor, and Nancy/Ann m. a Jackson. Reports say it was Willis Jackson, but I believe she was married to Charles Jackson. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Georgia H.
