He fought in the Revolutionary War, but I have no other information about his service. It makes sense though, since he moved to Ky. Most of the Rev. War soldiers were paid in land that was in KY. I found lots of information in the Kentucky Historical Society Library in Frankfort. I don't know where you live, but since you are researching families in KY. it would be worth while visiting the research center there. They have a book "History of the Faure-Fore-Foree Family, originating in the province of Auvergne, France in 1372" by Charles M. Foree that was very good. There is alot of information in the sir-name files. There is also lots of info in the Virginia State Historical Library. I haven't been there yet, but have some of the stuff that is there. I live in Virginia, so I have no reason not to go. There is another Joseph Foree -a son of Silas, who was born about 1805 in Henry County KY. I have no other information on him. My ancestor is Silas' son John Henry Foree, married to Frances Fanny Violett. If you find any information on that family I would appreciate it. Also, any information on Silas' wife - Sarah (Sally) Beasley. Hope this helps. Margaret

My Joseph is one of the siblings that had very little mentioned about him. You are probably right, he maybe married more than once. Do you have a date of marriage for Joseph and Ann Gividen by any chance. I believe he died around 1815. Another note I saw says he died much later. I have been told there is a lot written about the Foree family but I haven't been able to locate much of it. Can you refer me to any sources of info?

But he could have married again. I just don;t have that information. Hope this helps. I have alot of info on the Forees (Faure) from the time they came from France to Virginia. It is readily available from the Hugenot histories. Margaret
Does anyone know anything about the wife of my ancestor SILAS FOREE, mentioned below who is listed as Sarah ESTES Beazley???? I have never seen her name this way, only as Sarah BEASLEY and somewhere it is given as Sarah B. BEASLEY. I have had several suggestions for her BEASLEY parents but never found anything for sure. Does your listing mean she was an ESTES, married to a BEAZLEY before she married Silas Foree? I would appreciate any information. Thank you. I have an old black and white photo of Ethel Thompson, of Henry Co., KY who married Goebel Thomas. It was taken in 1924. My mother evidently knew her. It could be she was a teacher. I have no connections to this person or her line so if anyone would like the photo please contact me and I will scan and email it or provide you with the original if she is a direct line for you. Death certificates for 1911-1952 are available on microfilm at major genealogical libraries across the state including the Kentucky Historical Society. By state law the person must be dead for 50 years before the records are made public. Deaths after 1952 must be ordered from the office of Vital Statistics. Death records are $6. http://chs.ky.gov/publichealth/vital.htm Since Jessie Harlow died in 1985 you must order the certificate from Vital Statistics and pay the fee. Dear Listers, I, to have read the confession of Ole Richard. And I found him very silent about his KKK activities. On Page 16 of my version, I find the following: "William Smoot was then called for, and came forward, desiring Shuck to correct the minds of the people relative to his being connected with the robbery of a man by the name of Baer, from Madison. Shuck said the report was unfounded; that Robert Goodrich, Joe Goodrich, and Jackson Simmons were guilty of that robbery, as stated to him by Robert Goodrich." Bill Smoot was the local KKK Chief, according to spies sent into the area in 1873 by the U.S. Secret Service. Shuck didn't tell all, I am afraid. He might have thought his buddies were going to set him free. Tom
