This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4AB.2ACI/514 Message Board Post: The following is information I obtained from the Henry County KY website: MORRIS, Nannie, wf. of J.A. Morris, died at thirty three minutes past three p.m. Jan. 14, 1902. She joined the church at Hillsboro in 1870. Remains were placed in the family grave yard. HCL Fri. Jan. 24, 1902 This obituary mentions that Mrs. Morris joined the church in Hillsboro. I have posted the church as Baptist in the subject line but I do not know that to be correct. I have information that the Sulphur Baptist Church, Sulphur KY was charted in November 1884 by many members from the Hillsboro church and many of those members had the last name MORRIS. However, when looking for Hillsboro, I find only a town in Fleming County (eastern Ky) by that name. I do not believe this is the Hillsboro referred to in the obituary. Can anyone help me identify the church at Hillsboro? Thank you.

I wrote my note in 2000. Since then, I have found my Mahala married to John Thornton in 1844 in Henry Co. Then in 1850 she was living with a Pettit family. In 1851 she married a Vandagriff. In 1860 she was living with Isaac Stokley family (she seems to have a lot of ties with the Stokleys)--In 1870 she was living with her daughter Amanda's family. I can't find her in 1880--but I think she died (as a Vandagriff) in 1907. I think my John Thornton's father was Caleb Thornton and some say his father was Daniel. Do these names sound familiar? Thank you so much for your response. I'm fairly new at researching and I need all the help I can get. Joan Hatch

I would appreciate any info/data anyone may have on these persons. I have virtually nothing on most of them and need to know more about the wives, children, etc. Any small bit of information would be greatly appreciated. 1. Andrew P. Fendley, son of James Gardner Fendley and Eleanor Prewitt. I don't know if he married or not. The P could possibly be for the Prewitt name. He had sisters Anna and Rose that I know nothing about. 2. James Findley, abt. 1831, married Elizabeth Carr. Where are these Carrs from? 3. Nora Lelia Fendley, b. 3 Dec 1877, dau of William N. Fendley and Alice Prewitt. I really need to learn more about who these Prewitts were. 4. Silas Fendley, b. 7 Mar 1802, married a Malinda Ragsdale. Need to find more on this Ragsdale family also. 5. Annie M. Fendley, Abt 1905, dau of Herbert Tyler Fendley and Letha Alice Cunningham. I have no idea who or if she married. 6. Asa Bennett Fendley, 19 Mar 1916, married a Thaniel Carter. Does anyone know this Carter family? 7. Barney Fendley, b. 4 Apr 1896, married Grace Belle Willhite and lived in or near the Trimble area. I know of a daughter named Ruth W. who married a Jessie. Any others? 8. Phoebe Jane Fendley, b. 6 Nov 1843, who married a James Thomas Whitesides. She was the dau of Elisha Fendley and Rebecca Elizabeth Whitesides. Phoebe and James had 2 known children: Gova Linville and Sandy V. Does anyone know anything about them? 9. Phoebe Ann Fendley married a Harvey Kelly abt 1843. Does anyone know which Kelly family this may be? 10. Rachel Fendley, b. 28 Nov 1798, married a William Todd. Does anyone recognize this family name? I suppose 10 inquiries is enough for one posting. I have a dozen others. I'm just trying to see if anyone recognizes any of these names from their family trees. I'd really appreciate corresponding with anyone regarding my Fendley/Findley line. Thanks so much, Donald Murphy [email protected]
Is anyone on the list familiar with the name Kittie Coblin? In the 1880 census of Henry County, KY, she is ennumerated with Wm. Jackson and his wife, Margarett W. Burke Jackson. She is 18 years old and listed as their niece. The handwriting is difficult to make out, and for a long time I thought it said "Goflin" or "Coflin". But then I realized there were Coblins in Henry Co. at the time, and I bet that's what it really says. Does she sound familiar to anyone? I am at a brick wall getting any further back on Wm and Margarett Jackson. Oh, one thing: Kittie is listed as being born in KY, but her parents were born in Ireland. Margarett Burke Jackson also was born in Ireland, in 1834, so I'm assuming Kittie is a daughter of one of Margarett's sisters? Does anyone know of any marriages between a Coblin and a Burke? Thanks for any help or hints. Diane in MO ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
