    1. 1868 Ohio Atlas
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4AB.2ACI/521 Message Board Post: HAR is introducing a brand new CD product: 1868 Atlas of the State of Ohio. The 68 page atlas has been scanned at 400 dpi and presented in high quality Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). The viewing software, Acrobat Reader, is included on each CD. This is a departure from our other Atlas CD's in that it is more like an e-book than a series of 19th century county maps. There is quite a bit of statistical data and text in this product including sections on: Agriculture, Canals, Climate Map, Climatology, Colleges, County Evolution, Land Grants of Ohio, Geological Map, Geology, History, Schools and Seminaries, Post Offices, Railways, Statistics and Surveys of Ohio. This is an excellent snapshot of mid 19th century Ohio and is recommended for anyone interested in undertaking historical or genealogical research of this period. The Atlas contains multiple adjacent county maps that are useful for identifying 1868 transportation routes, railroads, canals and many early Ohio place names. The 25 city maps in the Atlas are much more detailed with many early government and industrial sites including: a variety of mills, cemeteries, churches, schools, asylums, fair grounds, race tracks, business locations, etc. A complete Table of Contents and examples taken from the Atlas can be viewed at the following link: 1868 Ohio Atlas web page: http://www.har-indy.com/oh_map/oh_index.html 1876 Indiana county maps: http://www.har-indy.com/in_map/in_index.html 1876 Illinois county maps: http://www.har-indy.com/il_map/il_index.html All are also available at our eBay store: http://www.stores.ebay.com/historicatlasseriesbyhar?refid=store Thanks for looking. I got the information from the regional state archives, in my case, it was in Waltham MA. I have gotten extensive family information online by joining lists, such as this one, and contacting the county clerks and historical societies from the locations I knew my family to be. My oldest piece of "legal" paper dates from 1786 VA. It's out there. Just remember, the Shuck's may have started in Mercer Co. KY.

KY census that there is a Mary E. Shuck age 13 born in MO. Her parents are James, age 40 and Edna, age 37 both born KY. Then 1880 Henry Co. KY Mary S. Shuck age 14, stepdaughter of Susan Shuck age 29. Then another Mary Shuck in 1880 Henry Co. with James Shuck age 7 and Rebecca age 47. My Shuck connection is Nancy Shuck born about 1834 who married Sterling Harlow in 1861 Henry Co. KY. I think her parents were James and Sarah Shuck, first cousins. Nancy had a brother, I believe, Cornelius. and a sister. The Shuck came from Mercer Co. in the late 1700's. They settled in Henry Co. and SHelby Co., as far as I know. I believe most of the early ones are related. Tell me what you think.
