    3. Another non-subscriber needs help... anyone have the answer to her question? Thanks, Suzanne "I am trying to do some Henry County research on the possible chance that some of my ancestors were there in the 1840's. How might I best access guardianship and court records for Henry County during that time period? I contacted the State Library and Archives only to learn that their microfilmed records are not available on interlibrary loan. LDS's listings on familysearch do not cite guardianship records. Do you have any suggestions? I live in Jackson TN and will not be able to visit your area any time in the remotely near future. Are their any published indices for those records? Any help would be appreciated. Benita Brown [email protected]

    2. Debra - I appreciate this stab in the Dark that you sent to me. Boy, Kentucky and Virginia is definitely Hill Country. I am not really sure if I have any matches yet or not, but it is worth researching. I will check out these names and dates and see if I can make any matches. I will let you know if I make any matches. Thank You. I have my Hill Family traced back to William Henry Hill b. in Shropshire, England and died Feb. 12, 1668/69 in Middlesex County, VA. William was married to Ann Mann. I had stopped doing this research for a while, I found it to be very addicting and time consuming. But, I still haven't found my missing link yet that I am looking for and started out to do. I sure would like to know more about W. H. Hill and Nancy J. Smith the parents of George W. Hill. 2. Being knew to your mailing list I sure appreciate the quick and helpful information that I am getting. I have made a lot of good contacts, websites, and have even found books that I purchased to help me with my research. Rebecca: Thanks for the quick response. Any Help I could get I would appreciate. I lived Houston for four years about 20 years, originally from Phoenix. Both of those places have grown so much I couldn't take it. El Paso is getting to be the same way, What I have been trying to do is connect the George (GW) Hill family with mine. Thomas Clifton Hill. I have pictures of both families together. GW's parents were W. H. Hill and Nancy J. Smith. That's where my leads stop. Rev. GW. Hill was born in the same town as my father Owenton, Kentucky. Both GW. and my father Rev. V. Paul Hill were also Baptist Ministers. GW. also had two very prominent Sons John L. Hill and T. Russ Hill. John L. was the Dean of Georgetown College, and T. Russ became known as the Daddy of the Rainbow which is Rexair's Rainbow's Vacuum Cleaners. (The Man who made a Million Selling Water.) I have traced my family back to Culpeper County, Virginia with my gggg Grandfather 1. William Hill. He died in Culpeper County, VA April 13, 1812, and was married to Mary Jane Wood. 2. William Hill JR. b August 9, 1775, in Culpeper County, VA. and died August 7, 1884, in Henry County, Kentucky. 3. Paul, I am descended from a William Hill who was born in Caroline Co., VA and died in Henry Co., KY. Unfortunately, it is a different Hill family. I seem to remember that the other Hill family in Henry Co. was descended from the same Culpeper Co. family that the Civil War General Ambrose Powell Hill was a member of. The Filson Club in Louisville has some original material (letters, etc.) on this family. It is not in the genealogy section, but upstairs in the archives where they keep original letters, etc. that have been donated. They might be of help. 3. Dear Watkins researchers, I am intimately acquainted with the Watkins cemeteries in Henry County. With the help of my mother and cousins, I was involved in the restoration and fencing of these two family cemeteries in 1995. The cemetery on Giltner Road in Smithfield to which Dave refers is indeed, as Dave says, the cemetery of Evan Watkins 1744-1831. This area was his land and the cemetery contains his body and the bodies also of his son Evan Jr, Jr's wife Rachel Rouner and their son Joseph, age 23. The other known sons of Evan Jr. were Joseph, Felix, Squire, and another son whose name we do not know. This is exciting, Dave..... as I have a date of ca.1817 for the birth of this unnamed son. He could be your Thomas L., though I looked at the names you submitted for his children and don't see the names I would expect such as an Evan or a Rachel. I will contact a cousin to see if he has any info that I do not have. The other cemetery, on Jackson Road, was on the farmland of Evan Sr.'s son, Isaac Watkins 1773-1857 (my line), a brother of Evan, Jr. This cemetery contains the bodies of three generations of the family of Isaac and his wife Sarah Pringle. Isaac and Sarah's sons were George, Mirven, and John Pringle. Marilyn Lewis

    3. Ed, Thank you for this lead. Not sure where it will head, but if not for me, perhaps it will help some other WATKINS researcher. I did an internet search and found the following link: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ky/henry/cemeteries/w3250001.txt . Don't know if this is the same cemetery you referred to, but it is a Watkins' Cemetery. At that site is a researchers survey of a "Watkins Cemetery" in Henry County, Kentucky that dedicates a Revolutionary War Veteran, Evan Watkins, Sr. Buried there is an Evan Watkins, Jr. and juniors wife and son. Others are buried there, but no other readable markers were found by the surveyor. It is possible that my Thomas L. Watkins, who was in Henry County during those days, was somehow connected to Evan Senior and Evan Junior. If anyone has researched the families of the father and son, Evan Watkins (Sr. & Jr.), it would be interesting to know of other siblings and/or children of these two are known. I have found no other records, but not being in the Kentucky area, I rely totally on the internet. Thanks for help, Dave David R.
