The Sarah Clark that you mentioned is probably Sarah Peyton who married Rice Clark. She had a first marriage (husband died young and they had no children that I know of) but she had at least 3 kids with Rice Clark. Sarah is my great grandmother. Her third marriage was to James Harlow, my great grandmother. Could you contact me directly please so we can compare notes. The kids names you have are all familiar. Terri [email protected]

It is my belief that Elizabeth is John Cockrells mother. I have found in Vol 8 1836 Henry County Deeds page 246 a court order for division of land and award of dower of Elizabeth Cockrell amoung her heirs: John Cockrell, Richard Hudson (husband of Nancy Cockrell) and Jackson Estes (husband of Nancy Cockrell). The only clue I have regarding Elizabeths' husband & John's father is the marriage record of Nancy Cockrell and Richard Hudson in 1828 in Henry County KY indicates Wm as father of Nancy. But William is NOT in the 1830 census. I am currently looking at microfilm deeds, will, court records from 1820-1830 trying to locate more specific information. I would be happy to make copies of these pages from deeds/wills etc and mail to you. I have spent many hours trying to find a William Cockreall and Elizabeth ? married in the late 1700's The only one I can find in 1790's in Maryland - but I have absolutely ! no proof that this is the right people. It is very difficult to make the jump back from KY over the mountains - so many people came to KY in that time period.

The two from the Henry County Local were transcribed by Marie Winburn for the Henry County Historical Society Quarterly Review: Shelby Sentinel May 25, 1899 AWFUL ACCIDENT ....................... Two Men Die from the Effects of Drinking Belladonna And Alcohol. .............. Dr. M.M. Cinnamond and Wm. Maddox, prominent people of Pleasureville neighborhood, died Sunday from the effects of drinking alcohol and belladonna by mistake. Maddox had been on a spree and he and Dr. Cinnamon (who had served as an officer of a primary election the day before) met at the former’s drug store in Defoe, about three miles from Pleasureville. Maddox having exhausted his supply of whisky procured some alcohol and poured into it, as a flavor, what he supposed was extract of vanilla, but was in reality belladonna, a deadly poison. Both drank of the mixture and Maddox died shortly afterward. Dr. Cinnamond lived until the afternoon. Both men became stone blind before their deaths from the effects of the drug. Several physicians attended Dr. Cinnamond and heroic measures were resorted to but he never rallied. In justice ot him, be it said, he was not in the habit of drinking and no doubt took the fatal potion thinking he needed a stimulant. Several others who d! rank of the mixture had narrow escapes especially Thomas Smith who it was thought would also die. Dr. Cinnamond was a son of Mr. M.P. Cinnamond, of Clayvillage, and was 38 years of age. He was well known throughout the county and many regrets are expressed that a life, which gave promise of so much usefulness, should be cut down in such a manner. He leaves a wife, who was before her marriage, Miss Carrie Payne, a popular young lady of the Simpsonville neighborhood and child. The funeral services were conducted at his late home by Rev. J.F. Mahoney, of Waddy, after which the remains were taken to Simpsonville Tuesday and interred in the Masonic cemetery. I post this message on behalf of Karen Ingle-Langendorfer. Can anyone assist her in this endeavor? Donald Murphy Metro Louisville-Jefferson County KyGenWeb Oldham County KyGenWeb Shelby County Ky USGenWeb Archives -------------------------- Hello, my name is Karen Ingle-Langendorfer, I live in Ocean Park, Wa. I have been trying for many years to discover the parents of my 2nd great-grandfather, Elijah Ingle. Here is what I have found to date: Elijah was born on April 23, 1824 in Ballardsville, Henry County, KY. At about the time he was born, Ballardsville could also have been in Oldham County, KY. This information came from Historic Sketches of Walla Walla, Whitman, Columbia and Garfield Counties, Washington Territory, By Frank T. Gilbert, Portland, Oregon, 1882. In another article that I found, he said that he was orphaned as an infant: History of Walla Walla County (Washington): Elijah Ingle, a fruit grower and farmer on the state road, five miles southwest of Walla Walla, a pioneer of September 1862, was born in Henry County, Kentucky, April 23, 1824. He was left an orphan in early infancy, and was reared by an uncle, who took him to Illinois when he was seven years old. He received a public-school education in Edgar county, that state, then worked on a farm until twenty-one, after which he started farming for himself. He followed that industry renting land for the purpose, for a number of years, then removed to Iowa, where he was engaged in the same occupation ten years longer. The Uncle and Aunt who raised Elijah were probably Nealey/Neely and Susan Ann Chastain-Ingle. Nealey was a son of Henry Ingle and Sarah Hanson-Ingle.(according to a list of his heirs from the Perry Co., KY County Clerks office). There is a William Engle/Ingle in the 1810 & 1820 Henry Co., Ky census & in the 1830 Oldham Co., Ky Census: WILLIAM ENGLE/INGLE OF HENRY & OLDHAM COUNTIES, KENTUCKY 1810 HENRY COUNTY CENSUS: WILLIAM ENGLE MALES: 2 UNDER 10 1 26-44 FEMALES: 1 UNDER 10 1 26-44 1820 HENRY COUNTY CENSUS: WILLIAM INGLE MALES: 2 UP TO 10 1 10-16 1 26-45 FEMALES: 1 16-26 1 26-45 SLAVES: MALES: 1 TO 26 1 TO 45 1830 OLDHAM COUNTY CENSUS: WILLIAM ENGLE MALES: 2 UNDER 5 1 5-10 1 15-20 1 20-30 1 50-60 FEMALES: 2 15-20 1 20-30 1 50-60 WILLIAM INGLE MALES: 1 20-30 FEMALES: 1 15-20 He seems to disappear after the 1830 Oldham Co., Ky census. So, he seems to be a viable candidate for Elijahs father. According to the Kentucky Marriage Records, Winney D. Ingle daughter of William Ingle married Benjamin Hancock in Jefferson Co., KY on Sept. 13, 1820. Benjamin is shown in the 1830 Henry Co., Ky Census and by 1840 Winney and her children are enumerated in the 1840 Edgar Co., IL census near Nealey Ingle. In 1850 Winney and her youngest daughter Nancy are living with her daughter Mary and her husband in Vermillion Co., IN. and Winneys son George and his wife Elizabeth Lee-Hancock are living near by. Is Winney, Elijahs aunt, cousin or sister? George Washington Hancock and his brother William (sons of Winney D. Ingle-Hancock) moved to Davis Co., IA in October 1855, according to information found on the internet at: http://abbitcat.topcities.com/genealogy/Narratives/Pottorff/HancockNarrative .html. George W. Hancock is enumerated in the 1860 Lick Creek Tsp., Davis Co., IA Federal Census and his wife Elizabeth in the 1870 Salt Creek Tsp., Davis Co., IA Federal Census. William H. Hancock (brother of George W.) is enumerated in the 1860 & 1870 Lick Creek Tsp., Davis Co., IA Federal Census. Elijah is enumerated in the 1856 Lick Creek Tsp., Davis Co., IA census and in the 1860 Perry Tsp., Davis Co., IA Federal Census. Samuel Martin Ingle married a Rebecca Ross on September 3, 1843 in Edgar Co., IL. On May 10, 1848, Elijah and Samuel Martin Ingle purchased land in Vermillion Co., IN. I have been unable to find any reference to Samuel & Rebecca Ross-Ingle outside of these two documents. No census or other records. Who is Samuel and how is he related to Elijah. The only Ingle in that area that I couldn't account for being alive after 1830 or so, was John Ingle who married Catherine Booker on October 14, 1819 in Jefferson Co., KY. Catherine is shown as a widow in the 1840 Sullivan Co., IN census. The following is from Chuck Booker: The Catherine M. Booker and John Ingle/Engle Family Catherine M. (Maniard?) Catherine Booker Ingle, widow, is found on the 1840 Census of Sullivan Co., Indiana on page 125. Betsy Ann Ingle b. d. ?Johnson Jay Ingle b. d. My question on this is, would it be possible for Elijah to have been their child, there is a space in the birth order to have allowed for Elijah's birth in 1824 and if their son William died in 1824,in speculation making Elijah the oldest male of this family, would it have been possible that Catherine allowed Nealey to raise him???? He married my 2nd great-grandmother, Mary Ann Henson, on May 5, 1845 in Vermilion County, IL. On May 10, 1845 he purchased land in Vermillion County, IN, with a Samuel Martin Ingle (I haven't been able to find who his parents are either, but he married in Edgar County, IL). Elijahs cousin, George Franklin Ingle (son of Nealey) married Elijah's sister-in-law, Sarah E. Henson on November 20, 1851 at Elijah & Mary Ann's home in Indiana. He has been hard to trace because of the last name spelling varies so much & also the 1890 census is gone. Frank & Nannie Jerrells children were: Ray Roy Laverne Nancy Catherine Betty Jack eva Nancy Mary Beatrice b.1926 in IN <<<my grandmother and possibly one more child all were born in IN Hopefully you may know something about him??? Also, I cannot wait to hear your Hardin info. My email address is [email protected] Thanks again Christine Elkins-Oliver 960 Village Drive White Lake, MI 48383

Elizabeth married John Stanton 1883 in knox county IN. They had several children & one was my grtgrandmother Nannie Mae Stanton. Nannie married Frank Jerrells & also had several children & their youngest daughter Mary Jerrells was my grandmother. I think Elizabeth Hardin's father B.F. Hardin is actually Benjamin Franklin Hardin. I would love to find out more about B.F. Hardin or any Hardin's related?? Are you connected to this line of Hardin's?

Hello Everyone I am just starting my Hardin research. My grtgrtfrandmother was Elizabeth (Betty) Hardin/Harden born in KY about 1860. Her family moved to IN sometime before 1883. Elizabeth married John Stanton 1883 in Knox co. IN. Some people in my family say her parents were Franklin Hardin & Nancy ???. But, from the census searching I have been doing I think her parents may have been B.F. Hardin & Nancy ??? which I have found them in Henry county KY in 1860. B.F. Hardin born abt. 1819 in KY Nancy ??? Hardin born abt. 1822 in KY If anyone knows anything about these Hardin's, I would love to hear from you. Thank you, Christy
