Spanish-American War. On same stone with John C. Godfrey: Elizabeth J. Godfrey born August 24, 1865; died October 19, 1948. Buried in the Pleasureville Cemetery. The following data is taken from the Henry County History Book 1798-1995 published by the Henry County Historical Society: John C. Godfrey Postmaster at Lockport, appointed February 29, 1918. Photocopies of this information may be obtained from the Henry County Historical Society, Box 570, New Castle, KY 40050 for a sum of $5.00 for research, copying and shipping.

A marriage bond for 50 pounds signed by Elisha Rucker and Samuel Smith (evidently both were unable to write their names as they signed with their mark) on January 14, 1837. This bond was posted for the upcoming wedding of Elisha Rucker and Mary Jane Smith. A minister's marriage return stating that Elisha Rucker and Mary Jane Smith were married by W.W. (?) Ford on January 16, 1837. Photocopies of both documents can be obtained for $5.00. This amount covers research, copying and shipping.

Will I. Sparks, 66, died at his home at Pleasureville at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday. He formerly lived on Beechview Court, Shively. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Miriam Adams Sparks; one daughter, Mrs. Willana Sparks Steinweig, Shively; one brother, Dr. D.L. Sparks, Louisville. Funeral services were conducted at the Willhite Funeral Home in Pleasureville at 2:30 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Donald Rose officiating, assisted by Rev. C.A. Nunery. Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

It is governed by a board of directors and is open for the burial of anyone who owns a lot in it. There are five other cemeteries either in town or very near town. 1. Behind the New Castle Christian Church. Cemetery was destroyed in late 50s or early 60s and made into a baseball field/park. 2. At the corner of Church and Center Streets. Cemetery was beside the "Old White Rock" Baptist Church. 3. A private cemetery no longer used for burials. 4. A cemetery for black citizens of this area. 5. A cemetery for paupers of the county.

Henry County marriage records show William Green marrying Drusilla Clubb (marriage license dated Nov. 29, 1871 and marriage certificate dated Nov. 30, 1871). The Henry County Cemetery Book shows William Green as being buried in the Franklinton Cemetery ( stone shows birth year of 1848 with a death year of 1939). No records of any type have been located to verify that John Brickley lived in the Franklinton area or in Henry County.
