Feb 23, 1933 Cadiz Record LONG ILLNESS FATAL TO MISS KATE SHAW Death Came Early Monday Morning At Sister's Home in Cadiz Came to Cadiz Some Weeks Ago from Henderson Where She Had Resided Many Years. MISS KATE SHAW died early Monday morning at the home of the sister, MISS BIRD SHAW, on East Main street, following an illness of many weeks following complications brought on by flu. Miss Shaw was taken ill in Henderson, and after some weeks in the hospital there, was brought to the home of her sister in Cadiz, and for the past month her condition had b een regarded as most critical. Miss Shaw was born in Connellsville, Pa, and was the daughter of the late Capt. T.S. SHAW and Mrs. Shaw, a prominent couple of Cadiz for thirty years and whose deaths occured some years ago. After qualifying herself for a trained nurse she located in henderson, where the parents resided when she was a child, and while her work had taken her to other points and into other states, she had since continued to make Henderson her home. During that time, however, she often visited the family in Cadiz where she was held in loving esteem by all who knew her. Among the surviving relatives are two sisters and a brother - MISS BIRD SHAW, of Cadiz, MR TOM SHAW of Paducah, and MRS. J.H. MORRIS of Pulaski, Tenn. A large crowd of friends and loved ones attended the funeral and burial Tuesday afternoon. The funeral service was conducted at the Shaw home on East Main street, conducted b y her pastor, Dr. Douglas, pastor of the First presbyterian church in Henderson. Burial following in the family lot in East End Cemetery. The pall bearers were selected from intimate friends of the family and they were Messrs. John S. Lawrence of Paducah; and Van B. Alexander, J. Preston White, Ben T. White, E.T. McCarty and P.a. Blane. Those here from a distance for the funeral and burial were Mr and Mrs Gibney Oscar Letcher, Mr and Mrs. James Hodge, and Dr. Rutherford Douglas of henderson, Mrs John D. Shaw, Mrs Lucy S. Wilson, Mrs J. Noble Hall, Hopkinsville; Mr and Mrs Thomas, Shaw, Miss Rowene Shaw and Jack Shaw, and Mr John S. Lawrence of Paducah; Billy Cromwell, of West Point, Miss, and Dr. J.H. Morris and M.S. Morris and three little sons of Pulaski, Tenn. Mrs Beatrice Hoxie, who has been here for some weeks nursing Miss Shaw has returned to her home in Henderson.
