Thanks again Pam from Mary Wallace. You are so right on the ages making it impossible for Meyers/Duncan to have been my Caroline. But it is curious that her father was born in Hamilton, Oh. since my grandmother, Anna Sophia (Menn) Voss, was born Feb. 13, 1857 in Hamilton Co., Oh. about a year before they moved to Ky. She was their oldest and was 14 when her mother died, leaving Voss with younger children, 8 and 5. Most often men in that era married again to help raise the children as there weren't baby sitters then. The same applied to widows to get a home for themselves and their children. Many Germans settled in Cincinnati's "Over the Rhine" area and others moved along the Ohio River into Ky. I live in NE Ohio and would be happy to do lookups for you if it isn't on the net. Mary.
