I had a Sarah Bright (Brite?) that was married into my Melton line also that came from KY to Maries and Phelps Co. MO. Thomas Melton was born around 1800 (not sure if he was born in KY or NC) he moved his family which included at least 5 sons from information handed down. Frank (my gg grandfather) was one of his sons, he married a Mary Ellen Tucker. He died in MO. in 1868-69, thus avoiding the Census. Mary was pregnant with their son (my g grandfather) at the time of his death George F. Melton. George lived his entire life in Maries and Phelps Co. but would often go to visit relatives in the Springfield area. I have not been able to tie this line directly into a certain lineage. Does anyone out there recognize these names or have any ideas??? Terry T.
