Hello fellow subscribers: I am a gg granddaughter of George Eakins and Sarah Elizabeth Melton who came into KY in the very early 1800s and settled Henderson Co.--near Robards. Several of his descendants and I are working on the Eakins tree and are having problems with the number of children George had. He left his property to his 10 living children. I have the children as: Noah (1810), Isarilda (1813), ? missing female, Andrew Jackson (1817), Felix (1819), Isaiah (1825), Louisa (1827), Enoch George (1829), Sarah (1830), and Zacharius Montgomery (1831). Sarilda died in 1821. In the 1820 census, 2 daughters are given and 3 sons. In the 1830 census, there are 5 sons and 3 daughters (2 are 0-10 and 1 is 10-15) given except that Sarilda died in 1821. In the 1840 census, 2 daughters are given being 10-15 years old. The daughter that was 10-15 in 1830 census is probably married and not at home. I have the daughters as Sarilda (1813-1821), Louisa (1827-1843) and Sarah (1830-1899). Where and who is this missing daughter? Even if she were found, this would only account for 9 living children. Where and who is the 10 th child? Thank you for any light you can shed. Helen Keusch e-mail at gkeusch@psci.net
