Just wanted to say that I enjoyed my short visit to Henderson. I was only there for a couple of hours, but enjoyed the library. Actually felt more at home there then in the large Allen County library. More hometown stuff. Made it to the Fernwood cemetary and took pictures of a few gravestones, thanks to Nella info. Henderson sounded like a ghost town during the Civil War, behind Union lines. My ancestor Malloure was capture there. It makes me wonder what happen. There isn't a recorded battle at this time - July 1864 and one article I read (diary notes), said that a mom was turning in her confederates soldier son because she was afraid on what the Union soldiers would do to them. Gamiata Malloure married in Henderson in1861, son b. Jan. 1862(Henderson or possibliy Hopkinsville) enlisted Aug 1862 Henderson, captured 1863 Henderson, released in 1865 ... but no record of him making it home. Was he captured trying to protect his family or did he move them out of town? More questions? Barb Malloure
