Dear Henderson County Researchers... I am so proud to announce to you that the owner of the Henderson County list, Betty Sellers of Mt. Vernon IN, has won the Kentucky Genealogical Society's Regional Award for outstanding achievement in genealogy. Betty has been involved in the KYGenWeb Project since the March 1996 beginning and she became active in the USGenWeb Project shortly after that. Betty has been county coordinator for numerous KYGenWeb counties and is currently cc for Christian and Trigg Counties in Kentucky and is part of a three-person team who cc's the Vanderburgh County, Indiana INGenWeb page. She is also a former Indiana state-coordinator. Betty Sellers has personally transcribed many county census records and has them online. She has published quite a few books, including funeral home records and obituaries, along with many newspaper abstracts. Additionally she maintains the GenConnect board "Sellers' Western Kentucky Obituaries", which at last count had almost 2400 obituaries online. http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ky/SellersObits Betty also transcribed "The Elijah Stevens Family History of Kentucky" for Ray Stevens of Mississippi who is 91 years of age and she is now at work compiling a Davis history. The Stevens book is in print and available from Don Simmons. She also owns several genealogy mailing lists, including the ones for Henderson County KY and the Land-Between-the Lakes. She is probably involved in other things that I am unaware of but I know she is one busy lady! Betty Sellers is also a candidate for cc representative in the southeast-midatlantic region. She has been a wonderful source of help to all of us involved in the KYGenWeb and INGenWeb Projects and she is richly deserving of this award. The award will be presented this weekend at the KGS Annual Meeting in Frankfort. Betty will briefly leave the side of her husband of over 40 years to receive the award. Bill Sellers is awaiting a heart transplant in Indianapolis. Hooray for you, Betty!! We love you, girl! Carole Palmer Webster County KYGenWeb page coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~kywebste/ I have posted this to several appropriate lists. I apologize if you received more than one copy of it.
