    1. Robards = "The Sanctified Town"??
    2. On a visit last fall to my ancestral home (well, one of them anyway) of Robards,KY I noted a sign on the south edge of town calling it "The Sanctified Town". It was explained by someone in town that the name alluded to the title of a book written by a Kentucky writer named Lucy Furman. I understood that the book was written in the 1890's, which happens to be when several of my genealogical families lived in Robards. The reason for my interest in the book is because the characters in the story were reportedly thinly disguised versions of the local townsfolk. Naturally I wonder if any of the book's characters resembled any of the folks there of interest to me, (surnames ARMSTRONG, DENTON, SPENCER & WESTER. What can any of you tell me about the book? What about the report that the characters of the book were based on the local folk? I have the book on order via interlibrary loan and I will greatly appreciate any background info you can provide while I'm waiting for them to find the book. Thanks very much. DW in MN
