Page 640 ......."When the buildings were completed Lutteril moved there, and the store he vacated was purchased by John C. Compton and Martin Pike, the former the son of Benjamin Compton, and the latter the son of Stephen Pike and Beatrice Vize. Martin Pike built the dwelling house J.J. Roberts now occupies near the store, and from him Mr. Roberts purchased both dwelling and store. Mr. Pike married Mary Wathen, daughter of Dr. Wathen and Nettie Ann Davenport. A few months after his marriage, he went to New Orleans with a flat-boat, trading, which was the custom in those days, and was never heard of afterwards. His wife, some ten or twelve years afterwards, married Thomas Melbourne."
