(If a person or his/her parents were probably living in 1880, I generally always begin my search with the FREE material. Besides I use the FH Library Catalog almost daily. When I do a PLACE search, it nearly always tells me when a county was formed and from what parent county.) The tax lists are of interest, and so are the court records [Volumes A & B of Court Order Books seem to be missing, even the county clerks not knowing where they are], and the deed indexes, not to mention the deeds themselves.
