A query [gatewayed] contains this information: A.G. Roberts is listed on the 1920 US Census, married to Laura Belle (NOE) Roberts and living in Henderson. A.G. was born Alexander Goodman Roberts and his profession on the 1920 Census is photographer. I found photos on the Henderson, KY, Rootsweb photo link that had his signature at the bottom---WOW!!! I can't find a birth record for him, though it says birthplace is KY. He was born around 1857. Comment: If this man was born ca 1857, it is probable he appears in the censuses of 1860, 1870, etc. as a child. The 1880 census is FREE [at least a transcription is free] on _www.familysearch.orgn_ (http://www.familysearch.orgn) Look for the word Census and then from the drop-down menu, choose US - 1880. Also, I understand that for a time prior to the Civil War, most counties in Kentucky kept records of births, and deaths, and many of these have been filmed and are held by the Family History Library in Salt Lake City and probably can be borrowed through a local FHC. However, if the person posting the query does not know in which county he was born, then she/he may have to hire a researcher to search a CD of Kentucky Vital Records held in Salt Lake City but not available on loan. Do a PLACE search in the FHL catalog [online at _www.familysearch.org_ (http://www.familysearch.org) ] for Kentucky and then look at all the entries for Vital Records. One of those is a CD-ROM. It may be held at Brigham Young University library also. E.W.Wallace
