    1. [KYHENDER] David Stephens and his Wife Elizabeth of Henderson Co., KY - 1800 census
    2. David Stephens and his sister Catherine [later Mrs. George Sprinkle of Henderson Co. and later of Indiana] bought ca 1799 about 200 acres of Lot 23, Henderson Co. and grant. I believe Purviance was the agent. According to deeds I read about this property--trying to find the chain of title--there were eight Stephens children, several of whom seemingly died without heirs. Some of those who had descendants were Catherine Stephens [dau of David--not his sister] married Samuel S. Williams. They moved ca 1825 or so to Hickman Co., KY. Williams died intestate ca 1838, and there was some correspondence that the widow might move to Illinois. (With a surname like Williams, who can find her?} Her eldest son or stepson, Jesse H. Williams was later in Ballard co., formed from Hickman Co. Elizabeth Stephens [not her mother] married Joseph Orendorff and moved to Logan Co., IL One of their sons, Alfred Orendorff, became a prominent attorney in Springfield, IL and died ca. 1909. [female] Stephens married Frederick Weller. They moved to Mississippi Co., Arkansas, but seemingly Mrs. Weller died, and the father Frederick and three sons--John D.[David], Felix Grundy, and one other [my notes are on another computer] returned to Henderson Co., KY and appear on some censuses. Nancy or Ann Stephens--probably never married. She taught school, according to an old letter in my extended family. If you have any linkage to any of these persons, please e-mail me. All genealogies are full of gaps, and this one is no different. There were two sons, whose names I do not recall, but they died without issue. Their residences after Henderson Co. are unknown.
