    1. [KYHENDER] 1860 Birth Records
    2. For the person wanting information about a birth ca 1860 in Henderson Co., KY this is to advise that it seems no records were kept for that year. This is to inform you, however, that for a time, prior to the Civil War, most counties in Kentucky kept some birth and death records, including, if I remember correctly, of slaves (most without names, unfortunately). Of course, most kept some kind of marriage records as marriage is a legal contract and affects inheritance, etc. However, this is what the Family History Library Catalog has under Vital Records for Henderson Co., KY Microreproduction of original records at the Kentucky State Historical Society and the State Arhives in Lexington, Kentucky. [oops--their computer cannot spell either] ____________________________________ Births, 1852-1859, 1903-1904, 1907; marriages, 1852-1859, 1902-1905, 1907; deaths, 1852-1859, 1903-1904. Suggestion: If you think the child whose 1860 birth you seek had older siblings born between 1852-1859, then possibly there may be a record of those children's births. If you have the inclination to read some of these records, contact your local LDS family history center and order the film for the time period in which you are interested. I was fortunate enough to find an umpteen great-grandmother's death record in such a film for Montgomery Co., KY. She was 80 years old, the surname was spelled wrong [or else the clerk had sloppy writing] and the cause of death was *old age*. In genealogy, we sometimes have to take chances such as ordering a film which gives no information on our ancestor, but which film/record teaches us something. If you have a good many Kentucky ancestors, do some surfing of the FH Library catalog for those counties and see whether Vital Records for the time periods are extant. Good luck!!!
