Dear Negley Researcher, I have located my book entitled NEGLEY USA, HISTORY AND GENEALOGY, Vol IV, The John Leonhardt Negley Line. George Negley [3rd generation] was a resident of Henderson Co., but previously of Chrisitian Co. and of Mercer Co., KY. The author, Floyd R. Negley [now deceased] has a long write-up of George Negley. However, George had no son named Charles. George's will was probated in Henderson Co. in 1865 (after the Civil War, if I have my dates correct.) Can you tell me who the father of Charles may have been? Floyd has a number of Charles Negleys listed in his index. My interest in the Negley family is that his first wife was Nancy Williams, who, in all probability was born in Granville Co., NC to Samuel Farrar Wiliams and his first wife Hannah Sneed or Snead. S. F. Williams, in his rejected Rev War pension record, states he was born 1759 in Granville Co., NC, and his marriage bond appears in Granville Co. S.F. Williams further stated he came to Henderson Co. ca 1806, the date of his first deed--part of Lot 23. Have you done any census work on Charles Negley?
