    3. Joan, nice to meet another cousin. Do you have any info on Richard Turner father to Catherine Turner Powell? If you have differing info would you share it. I descend from Nancy Ann Turner Stone, (she did not marry until after both her sons were born); her grandson-my great uncle donated me his DNA and he matches a McKinley but we do not know if the two boys were full brothers or half brothers. Both Wilburn and Joe used her maiden name to marry. Since the McKinley's were still down in Crittenden Co. at the time my great grandfather was born, we are guessing that the McKinley father must have hired out for the summer of 1880 as a farm hand to the Turner family or in close proximity to them. My great aunt from this same family married a son of John W. Turner (which they were 1st cousins once removed) and I am going to see if her son will do the DNA test for me so we can see if we match any of the other Turner families as soon as I can scrape together enough money to do it. Or do you know of anyone from the Turner line who has already completed the test? I have contact with Purda/Purdy's grandson who lives in Union County. She is the one that never married. The grandson was telling me that Purdy ran off her daughter Blanche because she was involved with a black man. But if so, she was less than 10 years old when it happened because Blanche is on the 1900 census with her as a 1 year old and in 1910 is not with Purdy and the boys nor is she there in 1920. Would be happy to exchange info on the Turner family with you. 1. [KYHENDER] Eakins info
    2. Hi I responded to an email of a Matilda Thomas wanting more info on where she obtained the info on the father of George and John Eakins (came into Henderson CO about 1811 from Rutherford CO., NC). She had the father as Elijah Joseph Eakins of Belfast, Scotland. I have not heard from Matilda and would like to find her sourse. Can anyone help me with this? The current info from research done by several Eakins researchers is that the father of John and George (and Sally Eakins Biggerstaff, Isabella Eakins Wilkinson, Thomas Eakins and Samuel Eakins) was Joseph Eakins and Isabella Walcup Eakins. Right now it is not known where and when they married, but per the Biggerstaff family history, Joseph and Isabella were from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland (not Belfast, Scotland-- Belfast is in Northern Ireland). Joseph and Isabella came into Charleston, SC, prior to the Revolution (I am guess most likely about 1770). Joseph had a brother, John, who also came along but no one I have emailed has info on this elusive brother John. Sometime during or just after the Revolution, Joseph moved his family to Rutherford CO., NC, where he and wife Isabella died in the early 1800's. Sons John and George came into Henderson CO., KY, about 1811-- there was no Webster at that time. Son Thomas may have some a bit earlier or later, but he was here for awhile, and later left for MO-- Thomas was on the 1850 census of MO (b. abt 1774 in NC per 1850). It is not know if Thomas was actually born in NC or SC at this time. Current info points to both. John and George stayed in Henderson CO and died there-- George and wife (Sally Melton Eakins) are buried in the Shiloh Eakins Cem east of Robards, John and his wife (Sally King Eakins) are thought to be buried in the small cemetery at Horseshoe Bend, just north of Henderson. There are no markers for either although the markers are probably buried from flooding or possibly broken up and stolen by young kids. John did bury some of his children there and since we can't find him buried anyplace else, I am just assuming he is there with his children. John was a man of substancial means, owned slaves, had a business in the Geneva/Corydon area and it would seem would have had a substancial monument. But none has been found. George's monument was destroyed by a tree splitting the stone. The base is still there, and his wife's monument is there. But several researchers and I have found nothing for John or his wife Sally, not even an obit on Sally (died around 1880) telling where she is buried. John died 1866. If anyone is interested in these elusive folks or have info on any of this, please email Helen Zuber Keusch gkeusch@psci.net forever search my families of EAKINS, HANDLEY, EZELL, MELTON, FORD/FOARD, SANDEFUR, THOMASSON, WALCUP, LAND, CRABTREE, EDWARDS, WOFFORD, REEVES, BENNETT, GOODWIN, JOHNSON; and hubby's lines of KEUSCH, ZIMMERMAN, BURGER, MEHRINGER, HOCHGESANG, HURST, HOPF, SCHMITT, SCHITTER/SCHUETTER--(pronounced like it looks and means about the same), and a few other hard to pronounce names.
