Gwili, I don't know if it still exist, I sent The Henderson County Genealogical Society a list of cemeteries that are not listed in the Gone but Forgotten Cemeteries of Henderson County that I found while transcribing death certificates for 1912-1914 Henderson County for USgenweb/KYVitals project. I was told that they would try to find information on them that they could be private cemeteries. I've seen Marshall Burying Ground, Marshall graveyard and Marshall Cemetery listed. I wondered if they are all the same cemetery or two different ones. There is a Marshall Burying Ground on Madisonville Road. The two listed as (but could be the same) Marshall Graveyard and Marshall Cemetery where used up to 1948. I think that the Marshall Burying Ground is old, probably on the old Marshall farm, it list 3 headstones Col Wm. Marshall 1757-1810 his wife and a child. The listing I've seen for the other two names have all been African America/Black. Which means that it could be a old cemetery pre 1865 or one started in 1865. There is listed in 1911-1992 Death Records for Henderson County by James Blue and Donald Hazelwood a listing for a Carrie Marshall born 1879 died feb 14, 1948 cem listed is Marshall Cem. She is African American/Black. My name is Nancy and I work at the Henderson Library. We have a booklet, "Orphans & Indentured Servants in Henderson, Kentucky". I checked it today for a master named Phillip Majors. There is not anyone by that name listed. In answer to your other inquiry, we have tax records and census on microfilm here at the library. There is almost always someone upstairs in the genealogy section from 9-5:30 daily who would be glad to help you. Let me know if you need more information. Netta, I'm e-mailing you, since you are shown as the last leader of the Henderson Co. Historical & Genealogical Society, and thought you would be the best source. My deceased cousin, Maxine Keach Alexander, who lived and died in Henderson, said she had given the family bible to Harold Hicks Bennett because he wanted it. (Maxine's mother was Ida Bennett Keach, daughter of James Rankin Bennett b. 6/23/1847 d 12/5/1930, and Laura Love Hicks b. 4/23/1853 d 7/1/1897). I found out recently that Harold Hicks Bennett died in Fayette Co, KY in 1999, and his wife had died in 1988. The question is: does the Henderson Co. Historical & Genealogical Society have the bible and the Bennett info that Harold Hicks Bennett was working on? If not, any suggestions on how to track it down? Harold & his wife had no children... Thank you, and look forward to your response. I plan on visiting Henderson, KY in Sept-Oct when I come to KY for my step-grand-daughter's wedding. The Kentucky Historical Society's Historymobile, currently housing an exhibit titled "The Life & Legend of Daniel Boone," is coming to The Welcome Center in downtown Henderson on March 20-21. The Historymobile (a mobile museum housed inside a 45-foot semi-trailer) will be parked in front of The Welcome Center at 101 N. Water Street and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Daniel Boone may be Kentucky's most famous and celebrated historical figure. His name is surrounded by myth and legend, but Boone was, in fact, an explorer and adventurer, surveyor, settler, merchant, hunter and trapper, soldier and proud family man. Please note: Colonel Richard Henderson hired Daniel Boone to look over our part of Kentucky and with 30 woodsman cut out the Wilderness Trail for the settlers to come to Henderson and claim their lands. This exhibit attempts to separate the real man from the legends. Within the exhibit are images, test, and a specially produced 10-minute video narrated by Fess Parker, who starred in "Daniel Boone" on television in the 1960s. Visitors to the exhibit will also see models of a typical frontier fort and a pioneer homestead. Other exhibit cases feature weapons of the period, items from the TV series, goods commonly found in frontier homes and commemorative medals and coins. There is no charge to view the Historymovile exhibits. The Henderson County Historical & Genealogical Society will also have an exhibit on Daniel Boone in their Research Library along with a history about Daniel Boone composed by Mrs. Lillian Thixton past president of the Society to hand out and a book from one of our very own members who is a direct descendant from one of Daniel Boone's brothers will be on display. Netta Mullin, President Henderson County Historical & Genealogical Society
