An unidentified person wrote this: My gggrandfather is John D. Langley, born about 1851, married Mary E. (maiden name unknown). They had a son named George Dillard (born June 1877). I found a John D. Langley in the 1860 census for Henderson, Ky. listed as the son of Samuel W and Elizabeth S., (with several brothers a sisters) that was born abt. the same time (1851) as my John D. Langley. Does anyone have any idea if this is the same John, or have any ideas on how I can find out if they are the same? Any help would be greatfully appreciated. Thank you very much. Response: I no longer answer gatewayed messages--too much hassle. First, census takers made lots of errors, but sometimes a person was called one name in the family and then a different formal name!!! At any rate, anyone hoping to find a birth date of a person born in Kentucky ca 1852-1859 should do this: Go to the Family History Library Catalog [link is on the right side of this URL _www.familysearch.org_ (http://www.familysearch.org) ] Do a PLACE search for whatever county in Kentucky, making sure it existed at the time you are seeking. Click on the Topics Then go down virtually the whole list until you reach Vital Records. This is how the FHL catalogs ALL births, marriages and deaths--at least for the US. (Other countries such as England, I am told, have something like Civil Registration, but ... I am inexperienced in that respect.) Vital records may list births, marriages, and deaths. I see that there are films at the FHL for births in Henderson Co., KY for about 1852-1859. The Civil War caused the demise of this procedure, alas!!! I am fairly certain these films are also at the Kentucky State Archives in Frankfort, although I have not been there in decades. Explore what else is listed in Vital Records for whatever county in the US you are searching. Lots of luck!!! (Tax records for Kentucky are very informative also.) E.W.Wallace with lots of Kentucky ancestors--who either died there or went thataway!!! ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

I believe in 1980 a Mr. Williams lived in the house. He was very sick. The tombstone/monument was tall, with names on all sides. I assume people were buried like spokes around the monument. It seems to me there was some type of industrial place next door. I do not know the address, nor exactly who was buried there. At one time I saw a posting that advised Frank Nally was the person to contact, but it has probably changed. Thanks, Heather. Phyllis, I found the picture in the estate of an elderly friend of mine. On the back it says, Evans Bennett and Cardie Coyte back of Tscharner Grocery Dec 1946. This can't be the one born in 1906 because he would have only been 40 in 1946. This man is much older. If you want, I can mail you the stuff from the Henderson Book and put this picture in it, OR, if you just want the picture, I can scan it and send it to you via email. If you want all the Bennett stuff, send me your address in a personal email, _Pamcat1954@aol.com_ (mailto:Pamcat1954@aol.com) . Pam, do I ever have Evans Bennetts in my family! It's possible its William Evans Bennett, b 1906 d 1963 , son of Miles Cooksey Bennett and Corinne Tillotson. BUT, I have have two other William Evans Bennett, two Hayden Evans Bennetts, an Evans and an Evans G... Probably more, as I don't have middle names on all ancestors. So, yes, he's probably one of mine! Can you scan it and send me what info you have on it? Anything other than the date on the back? Thank you!! Ok, let's try this again. Phyllis, how much info do you have on your Bennetts? I have a book called the History of Henderson Co, KY and it has a rather large section on the Bennetts, starting with James Bennett Sr, b 1700 who married Mary? in 1721. James Rankin Bennett is listed as one of the descendents. It doesn't mention any Wildharbers though.
