I have Williams ancestors from that area also. Does the names, Burrell Williams, Burton Williams, or Bryant Williams mean anything to you? If you think there might be a connection, contact me at alwillson@kih.net Ann Willson

Bch., VA Hi, I have some Vanhhoks in Union County, Kentucky in 1900. Nancy Jones married a Richard Vanhook and had at least 2 children. I was told Nancy died about 1880 in Marion Kentucky. Richard was said to be from Tennesse. The daughters are Dona Vanhook (Oct 6, 1871-Feb 1, 1958) she married a Charles C. Buckman and is buried in Union County, Kentucky; Maggie Vanhook born about Feb 1878. I don't have the census in front of me, but I believe in 1900 1 Vanhook was living with cousin Fielding Jones and the other with Ella (Jones) and Ben Buckman. Rachel Rose

    1. SURNAME: PATE
    2. Although this list is devoted to Henderson Co, KY, I thought perhaps someone on the list may be researching the surname PATE. In a box of photos that belonged to my great grandparents who originally came from the Slaughters, Webster Co, KY area, I found a photo of them with one woman, two men, an adolescent boy, and a young teenage girl. The back of the photo is labeled "Visiters of Mrs Pate" and appears to have been taken during the early 1900's by the style of dress and the fact that my grandfather, their first child, is not in the photo. Anyone out there researching this name? If so, I will scan the photo and send it your way. Perhaps you may be able to identify who the "visiters" were. Martie Williams

    1. American Revolution Battle of Kettle Creek SAR honors patriots
    2. I'm sending this to the KY lists because there were many of the patriots from this battle that later went to Kentucky, or their descendants did. One son of Benjamin & Nancy Morgan Hart, John HART married Patience LANE and went to Henderson County about 1803. I'm hoping the information of this SAR honor of the Kettle Creek patriots will be helpful to someone, as well as help to me!? Below is a newspaper article sent to me which is from The Hartwell Sun in Georgia. I do not have any further information on the SAR and their participation of the observance. If anyone does, I would appreciate the information! I am a descendant of some of the patriots of this battle, including Benjamin, Nancy, and Morgan HART. Thank you, Barb Johnson Seattle, WA. bkkmj444@aol.com bejharts@aol.com If you'd like, visit my web page on Nancy Morgan Hart! http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/6651/ ============================================ 8A THE HARTWELL SUN - January 14, 1998 Kettle Creek patriots to be honored at site of battle The sons of the American Revolution will honor American Patriots from Georgia and South Carolina with an observance recognizing the 219th anniversary of the Battle of Kettle Creek in Georgia. In past years, the national society has celebrated Revolutionary War anniversaries at battle sites in the South and Mid-Atlantic states. The observance will be held on Saturday, February 14, at 11 a.m. at Kettle Creek battle site in Wilkes County, nine miles west of the town of Washington. For Hart Countians, the observance is significant for the participation of the Nancy and Benjamin Hart family. Listed among the patriots in the regiment of General Elijah Clark are Morgan Hart, Nancy's son, and John and Thomas Hart, Morgan's uncles. In Beneath These Waters a volume by Sharyn Kane and Richard Keeton, the authors write "Nancy and Benjamin Hart were...a part of the Georgia forces commanded by General Elijah Clark. The Hart family fought in the battle of Kettle Creek on February 14, 1779, just southwest of the Russell Reservoir area." Descendants of the patriots will be recognized and all interested persons are invited to attend.

At 2 o'clock this morning a searching party went back and found "Chappie: lost in the woods. They brought him back and he will never take another "blarsted Britisher" out on a Kentucky snipe hunt.
