    3. Thanks for letting us know, Betty. Mr. Blue helped me find some information 7 or 8 years ago as I was getting into genealogy. 1. Johnson family - Webster & Union Co's
    2. Charles E. Carter
    3. Johnson Researchers. I'm at a "deadend" with my great grandmothers family, the JOHNSON's from Webster & Union Co area. I've been looking for a while now, and have communicated with a couple of Johnson researchers, including the late Garnett Johnson, with no success. I thought I would post what I know to this list in "hopes" that someone might be able to help me break up the deadlock. *************************** My great grandmother, MATTIE IDELLA (JOHNSON) WALLACE was born in Webster Co., Ky. The information I have on her family is little and sketchy at the best. I will try and relate what I know and hope that this might have some connection with the JOHNSON research you are doing. The father of Mattie Idella Johnson (my 2nd great grandfather) was: J.F. JOHNSON - born ca 1843 in Kentucky and died ca 1910, where unknown. I have a copy of a "Rememberance Card" from his funeral in 1910, but sadly it does not give the exact date of death, nor does it state where he was buried. I have a copy of the Marriage Bond for the marriage of his daughter (my great grandmother) Mattie Idella Johnson to my great grandfather, Sam Ray Wallace from the Webster County Court House dated 21 December 1890. On that marriage bond, her father signed as FRANK JOHNSON. Ive been told that he was knows as FRANK. the marriage bond indicates he was born in Kentucky. The mother of Mattie Idella Johnson (my 2nd great grandmother) was allegedly: MARTHA ADAMSON -I have no information at all on her other than a name and that she allegedly lived to be 97 years of age. The marriage bond I talk about above for the marriage of her daughter indicates that Martha was born in Illinois. I have a copy of an old photograph of Martha Johnson and that's about all I know about her. I have information on 8 children being born to J.F. (FRANK) JOHNSON and MARTHA (ADAMSON) JOHNSON: 1: MATTIE IDELLA JOHNSON - listed above 2; MARY JOHNSON - no further information other than she may have moved to and lived in Monette, Arkansas after she married. 3: SULLIE JOHNSON - no information 4: IDA JOHNSON - reportedly died: 25 March 1956 - where unknown ?? 5: SIBBIE JOHNSON - an old letter written by one of my great aunts on the Wallace side of the family (my grand fathers sister) back in the early 1950s indicated that Sibbie was living somewhere in Missouri at the time. 6: ROBERT JOHNSON - no information other than the same as on Sibbie above - my great aunt indicated in her letter that Robert was living somewhere in Missouri in the 1950s. 7: BERNIE JOHNSON - no information - my great aunt indicated in the letter, written in 1956, that Bernie was reportedly living in National City, California. 8: BILL JOHNSON - no information ********************** That's about all I have on my great grandmother's family. Not much at all! If any of this information matches up with any records anyone might have, or if anyone has any suggestion where I might look for the family of Mattie Idella Johnson, I hope you will give some suggestions. Sincerely, Chuck Carter Wheaton, Illinois

    1. SYERS in Union Co, KY and Saline Co, KY
    2. pat scheele
    3. Hi, I have made great progress on my SYERS surname due to all the help from friendly researchers. I believe my great grandfather was Jacob SYERS who was born in Union Co, KY ca 1873. He married Letta Virginia Sullivan and had 5 children. Between 1910 - 1920 they moved to Harrisburg, Saline Co, Illinois. If it is the same man, he married Grace Mae Horrell (Mace) of Madison Co, Illinois May 28, 1916 - location unknown. Other SYERS family members recongize the photo of my Jacob as the Union Co, KY Jacob SYERS ... but noone ever knew of this second family with Grace, my great grandmother. Jacob went out for a newspaper in 1926 and never returned. In 1935, Madison Co, Illinios, Grace obtained a divorce. We have 3 photos of Jacob SYERS - perhaps someone else will recognize him. My page is under construction and more links are forthcoming but the information on Jacob is available for viewing with the images. His employment had him traveling in the mining business and he may have worked for Austin Powder or Peoria Mining .. all mining information also appreciated. Also, if anyone has any informatin that might lead me to a marriage record for Grace and Jacob or divorce record for Jacob and Letta .. that would be appreciated. ... what is it about finding a few skeletons in those family branches? (*grin*) we all have a few. Pat in snowy Nebraska

    3. Pam: Yes, I did get your message. Don't think I have the 1880 census because I didn't know about "Katie" Gudgel who marr a LOVE. I have been in touch with a lady (cousin) who lives in Henderson and she has a collection of "keepsakes" that belonged to her grandmother. This lady kows very little about the GUDGEL's but her mother (Annie GUDGEL BARRON) was always talking about the family ties etc. She did say she looked through her collection and remembered the name LOVE. Couldn't figure it out till I got your message! Henderson is about 3 1/2 hours from me so I may just write and ask her to copy these things for me, however, I would like to make a trip there when it gets warmer. Did you get my message about the TAYLOR's in Woodford Co.? The local Historical Society just ordered the book "The Ten Traveling Churches" by John TAYLOR. Enjoy your trip. There is a Katie in the household of Daniel and Cornelia GUDGELL in the 1880 Census. However, her age is shown as 9. But, you know how records are - many mistakes are made. The marriage record states that the groom is also 28, and that he and his parents were born in Missouri. It is the groom's second marriage. He is employed in railroading. J.E. GRAHAM was the Surety. I noticed in your post to the Henderson Co. list that you are also researching Butler. I guess back when we were talking about the Jenkins line, I didn't think to ask about other lines. Or maybe I did and have just forgotten. Anyway, I have a 2nd great grandmother who is Martha Louise Butler b. 8 June 1872 and her father William Butler b. 1809 d. Bef Nov 1859 m.
