I had a Sarah Bright (Brite?) that was married into my Melton line also that came from KY to Maries and Phelps Co. MO. Thomas Melton was born around 1800 (not sure if he was born in KY or NC) he moved his family which included at least 5 sons from information handed down. Frank (my gg grandfather) was one of his sons, he married a Mary Ellen Tucker. He died in MO. in 1868-69, thus avoiding the Census. Mary was pregnant with their son (my g grandfather) at the time of his death George F. Melton. George lived his entire life in Maries and Phelps Co. but would often go to visit relatives in the Springfield area. I have not been able to tie this line directly into a certain lineage. Does anyone out there recognize these names or have any ideas??? Terry T.

    3. Hopkinsville Kentuckian November 1895 AFTER FORTY YEARS Wednesday evening MR. D.E. PIERCY, an attendant at the Hopkinsville asylum left that institution with an inmate who is noted for the great length of time she had been there. MISS REBECCA MARSHAll, was sent to the asylum from Daviess county nearly forty years ago. She was reared near Green Brier church , where one brother, bunch and two sister, Nettie and Eliza, still reside. Her family connection is good and the family history certainly interesting. Miss Rebecca is over sixty years of age, and the above surviving members, are from fifty five to over sixty years of age. Two brothers who are dead james and Frank, both lived to be nearly seventy years of age. They are the children of Steve Marshall and have always resided on the farm where they were reared. None of them ever married and there have been no separations except by death and the sending of Rebecca to the asylum. Each divided with the rest everything he or she had. They seemed perfectly contented with brother and sisters for life companions. Rebecca is now returned to the bosom of the family from which she has so long been absent and the meeting at Livia between her and the other children was quite affecting, it being the first time they had met for a number of years. She has not been entirely cured of her mental trouble but the asylum physicians say her condition is no longer dangerous and she was granted a parole to visit her people but subject to return at any time requested by the asylum management. But, he did say thathe may possibly reprint them if there was enough demand. His address is: Shirley Carlton Moody 226 Calle Las Prado Evansville, IN 47712-2718 Drop him and a line and tell him that you are interested in his books. He is a very gracious person and has done a lot of research on Henderson and Webster County families. Pam Groover, Va. I am trying to locate any copies of wills, Bibles and/or land records for James Hardesty, b.1801, whose father was Francis Hardesty, II, b.1734, and Julia Kelly, b. 1810 whose father was Frederick Kelly. I have records showing that they lived in Henderson county, but the locations of the Kelly plantation and Hardesty property is still a mystery. I also would like to find siblings for Julia and Frederick if anyone can help with this also, and information on the Lathram Family, that may have moved to Texas in the mid 1800's. 3. Thanks again Pam from Mary Wallace. You are so right on the ages making it impossible for Meyers/Duncan to have been my Caroline. But it is curious that her father was born in Hamilton, Oh. since my grandmother, Anna Sophia (Menn) Voss, was born Feb. 13, 1857 in Hamilton Co., Oh. about a year before they moved to Ky. She was their oldest and was 14 when her mother died, leaving Voss with younger children, 8 and 5. Most often men in that era married again to help raise the children as there weren't baby sitters then. The same applied to widows to get a home for themselves and their children. Many Germans settled in Cincinnati's "Over the Rhine" area and others moved along the Ohio River into Ky. I live in NE Ohio and would be happy to do lookups for you if it isn't on the net. Mary.

    3. Hello Mary, I don't believe that the Meyers/Duncan marriage is the one you are looking for, but will send the details from Volume Three of Henderson Co., KY marriages compiled by Shirley Moody. Caroline MEYERS m. Eddie DUNCAN on24 Mar 1897, Book 27, page 149 A. D. DUNCAN, Surety. Both parents of bride and groom are present and gave consent. Married at the bride's residence. Groom and parents born in Webster Co. Bride's father born in Hamilton, O., her mother born in Germany. Groom is a Machinist. Groom 19, bride 18. As you can see from the ages, it is not your Caroline. But, perhaps there is a connection. Pam
