Can anyone tell me anything about John Blue. I understand that he recently passed away. Does anyone know if he was related to the BLUE families of Hopkins Co. Kentucky???? Thanks, Glenn
2nd Request --- Is anyone else having trouble with: http://www.aplusdata.com/kyseeker/records.html ?? AOL cannot access it for me. If I can hear from someone else with AOL who CAN access this site, I'll call them. Frustrated in Michigan.. I want to look at these death records. IT SHOULD BE A GREAT FILE. Wilayne
Hi Helen... > Secondly, this is related to my research--you have 5 Eakins cemeteries >listed--guess they are all called Eakins cemeteries, right? I know one Eakins cemetery is on the Lee Eakins farm (just west >of Robards), and one is just east of Robards, one at Corydon. Where are the >other located? I'm no expert on Henderson or Webster County geography, but Webster County Cemeteries, Volume IV, p 51, lists a very small Eakins Cemetery located on Watkins-Sebree Road at the edge of Sebree. It was surveyed by James Blue in 1986 and has only six stones listed. Carole Palmer Webster County KYGenWeb page coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~kywebste/
Hi Nancy....Check out the following page, which Nancy Trice put up not too long ago: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/ukfilm.html It lists the microfilm available for each KY county. The film may either be purchased or borrowed via Inter-Library Loan. The death records did not denote which Eakins cemetery. The Eakins cemetery listings are in Gone But Not Forgotten Cemetery Book printed by the Henderson County Historical Society. If you have that book they should be easy to distinguish... Good morning, Can anyone tell me that name of the newspaper in Henderson, Henderson County? I'd like to try to access the newspaper from the 1940s and look for some family obituaries. Has anyone had success doing this (on ILL from their library)? Thanks for you help, Nancy
To James, Jane, and Betty, THANKS!! You have done a great job with the death notices. I had no trouble viewing them. This is an invaluable source of information for all interested in their roots. Two question--however, what does the * mean by a name? Secondly, this is related to my research--you have 5 Eakins cemeteries listed--guess they are all called Eakins cemeteries, right? This will give your car a workout when you go tombstone searching unless you know which one is which. I know one Eakins cemetery is on the Lee Eakins farm (just west of Robards), and one is just east of Robards, one at Corydon. Where are the other located? The above information may be helpful to someone wanting to find out where to go. Thanks again for your work. Helen Keusch
Hi! I'm way over here near Louisville, KY in southern Indiana, but if I remember right the daily paper is called "The Gleanor" ---------- > From: Robert Terhaar <rbt@ix.netcom.com> > To: KYHENDER-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Henderson newspapers > Date: Monday, August 03, 1998 4:37 PM > > Good morning, > > Can anyone tell me that name of the newspaper in Henderson, Henderson > County? > I'd like to try to access the newspaper from the 1940s and look for some > family obituaries. > Has anyone had success doing this (on ILL from their library)? > > Thanks for you help, > > Nancy > >
I learned many years ago to use florist styrofoam to rub across the face of a marker. It cleans the stone and the flakes fall into the etched out letters and you can get good pictures. The styrofoam is easy to find and I have used it many times successfully.
Hello all! I'm searching for descendants of E.L. STARLING who wrote "History of Henderson County" in 1887. Does anyone have any information on this family? Thank you. Nancy

For the 18 months with the permission of James L. Blue of Henderson County. the Henderson County Death Records from 1911- 1921 have been available on the Henderson Co KyGenWeb Page hosted by Jim Powell. I had promised to finish this project and with the help of Anthony Abby of Aplusdata.com it is finished! There are 25,000 death records on line encompassing over 100,000 searches... All 25,000 records are up on a search engine and Jim will be linking it to the Henderson County site. Webster County will be linking also. I'd like to thank at this time James L. Blue for his 'great' contribution - and Jane Sellers McBroom for four months of many many hours of typing.. Hi friends....I want to applaud Betty, as well as James Blue and Jane McBroom, for making the Henderson County Death Records available to us. I bought the book earlier this year and it is a *fabulous* resource, although not indexed. Now we have the resource available to us *for free* and it is *searchable*, which does away with the necessity for an index. I can't tell you how many holes in my database have been filled by the information from this databased. I promise you, if you have Henderson or Webster County ancestry, you will not be able to get enough of looking at these records! I'll get a link up to them from the Webster County page as soon as I have the time to do so. You guys are gonna *love* this database. Thank you Betty and also thanks to the smart folks at aplusdata.com. THIS IS WONDERFUL NEWS. THANK YOU ALL. HOWEVER, I HAVE A PROBLEM....I just tried to pull the file up, and on AOL the only thing that happened was I had a blank screen, with no side scrollbars to do anything. Has anyone else had this problem? HELP. These records are wonderful! Wilayne in Michigan
