My apologies to all. I hit the wrong button and sent the message meant for one of you to all of you. Please excuse my error. Joyce
The National Archives in D.C... They are on line so you could check on getting records there. His pension file records are in File R3473. The National DAR has tons of members based on the service of Captain Daniel Feagans - including yours truly. The one I used in my application was DAR #447227 for a Mary T. Devore. They'll send you a copy for @ $5.00. You can write them at the following: NSDAR 1776 D. St., N.W. Washington, D.C. 20006 You might also check on the GenForum http://www.genforum.com/surnames/f.html for surnames. I see that they have a FAGAN forum there. Also, you might check out the Combs forum. Daniel's wife was VIOLET COMBS FEAGAN. I know they have some information on the family there. I'm sorry that I don't have the time right now to send the information myself, but I am up to my neck in Littlepage correspondence. If this seems to be your lead, do write back as I do have names of several researchers in this family. There was a DANIEL FEAGAN who moved west right after the Revolution with his wife, VIOLET COMBS FEAGAN, and their NINETEEN CHILDREN!!! They met Simon Kenton, the famed Indian fighter, on the waterway trip upon a barge. He advised Daniel that there was Indian trouble up ahead. Daniel and his huge party (which included spouses of his older children and grandchildren) got off at Kenton Station, Kentucky, where they remained for several years. Later, Daniel lost his land there through "mischance" (whatever that meant) and moved to Brown County, Ohio. He applied for a pension - and was turned down. However, his children kept applying (:-) and left a wonderful record of Daniel behind. Violet lived to be 100 - so the file is huge. With 19 children - the middle name of Fagan might be from this family. It might be worth your while to look at this group. I doubt it but I have heard of the name Fagan... and of course Sights in Henderson County is very prominent. -----Original Message----- From: Wvandev@aol.com <Wvandev@aol.com> To: KYHENDER-L@rootsweb.com <KYHENDER-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, August 14, 1998 7:06 PM Subject: Re: MY NEW FAUGHN SURNAME PAGE >This is so curious..... > >Our gr-grandfather's name was Robert FAGAN Holliday....None of us can figure >out WHERE this middle name came from. Oh Joyce, I forgot to ask....just WHERE is this huge file to be found? Is it in a book somewhere in KY, or a personal file, or what? Thanks. Wilayne
Thanks, Joyce. It certainly is worth looking into. I'll do that. Wilayne

PLEASE HELP!!! We returned from our KY "search for our roots" with a few more questions than we had when we left home! My great grandmother, Judith Ann Dyer, was married previous to the marriage on Nov. 10, 1885 to Richard Anderson Brisby. (Henderson Co) This was a fairly new twist to our tree limb. We checked the appropriate counties, Henderson, Union and some counties in IL for marriage records, to no avail. The marriage Annie J. Latta/R.A. Brisby was held at the home of Sandra Utley and witnessed by Wm. Latta and Charles Doris. (This information is on the marriage bond and license we just found.) The Henderson Co census, 1860, shows her as "Juliann Dyer" age 1. Records show her as Judith Ann Dyer, Annie J. Dyer and Juliann Dyer. Family history spoke of her as Judith Ann. Any information on the Latta, Dyer, Brisby or Kenney family in the area of Union, Henderson Counties is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Judith
Martie, I am still looking for clarification of some of Ora Chandler's material. The photo of Benjamin could only be a photo of a painting, as Benjamin died prior to the invention of any type of photography. I'm looking for any further info on that. Do you know Eldon Chandler? He is supposed to be an authority on the McClendons, and on Ora's research findings. I am also wondering if Susan Alice is the daughter or granddaughter of Joel McClendon. She was born in 1860, 22 years after her sister Queen Isabella, and Joel would have been 57 and Sallie would have been 62. I suspect that Susan was the daughter of someone in the family, possibly one of Joel's daughters. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!! Hi all... I am transcribing the 1905 marriages of Webster County and today I came across a consent note that was filmed completely out of order. It is quoted below: >Consent note: "Providence, Webster Co, Ky.; Oct 15, 1898. >J.F. Porter, Clerk, Webster Co. Sir: I hereby authorize you >to issue license for my marriage to J.R. Bruce of this county. >I am 37 years of age, and reside in Webster Co. Ky. Yours Resp., >T.K. ? Att: J.R. Bruce, Sarah J. Doris" I checked Webster County marriages 1860-1900 and found the following marriage: >Marriage: J.R. Bruce to Miss S.J. Doris 16-Oct-1898 It appears the bride signed her note in the wrong place but I have seen that before. I could not decipher the last name of T.K. ? I will eventually find a place to put this information on the Webster County page but thought I would place it here in a "holding pattern" for the time being. btw, I have no connection with the Bruce or Doris surnames. Martie, I exchanged notes with you several months ago, and then lost your address along with hundreds more in a system crash.
