    3. Is anyone researching the Sutton's or Walker's in Henderson County Kentucky or the surrounding area? I am trying to find anyone with information about my GG Grandfather Thomas Russell Sutton born 1833 in Kentucky. He married Margaret Jane Hopkins, 1855 in Henderson Co. Ky and he married Rebecca Elizabeth Walker Tapp, 1873 in Union Co. Ky. Elizabeth was first married to Samuel P. Tapp 1860 in Henderson Co. KY; she was his second wife. She was born in 1833 in Kentucky. I do not know who the parents are of either Thomas Russell Sutton or Rebecca Elizabeth Walker. If you have any clues about them, please contact me. 3. Hello to all, I am trying this on a slim hope that one of you could help me locate some wives of a relative. Luther Handley (b. Aug. 26, 1888) was a brother to my grandmother, Florence Handley Eakins and married Stella Eakins in 1908 (Evansville, IN). Stella was a daughter of Napoleon Eakins (Nay was a brother to my grandfather, Enoch Marian Eakins). This is what I know of Luther--he married Stella, had children by her, they were divorced, and he married another lady--possibly Hattie Eakins (cousin to Stella) and he and Hattie were divorced. Luther remarried Stella after being divorced 33 yrs. I would like to know if Hattie was the second wife, the dates of the marriage and divorce, and children that Hattie and Luther had. Luther also had 4 brothers--Alvey, Acrah, Irving, and Clay. Any information on Luther or any of the brothers would be much, much appreciated. Thanks so much!! Helen Keusch gkeusch@psci.net

    3. Hello Evryone... Rootsweb opened up the GenConnect Surname board to their sponsors and I have taken the Allen and Faughn Surname boards and hoping to take the Mitchell. I have created an Allen Home Page - its rather bare right now but I am adding information that I have in my book "Til We Meet Again" - and it is linked two six genconnect boards - Biographies, Wills, Deeds, Obituaries, Bibles and Queries. These are national GenConnect boards. Before I could get my page up I had 6 queries from outside of Ky. I'd like to tell you a little something about the picture on the home page - It is Melissa White Allen the 3rd wife of Felix Allen with her only child Felix. of Mississippi. Felix died in 1867 after serving in the Confederacy. He was a poet and many of his poems are in the archives in Mississippi. I'm hoping someday to be able to share some of these on the internet with permission. The GenConnect boards will be down til late Sunday evening as they are installing new equipment but I'd like to invite you to view the page at: http://www.usroots.com/~kyseeker/trigg/allen/allen.html Please - if you have any information - please list it . This will be in a national database and I would really like to see it do good... Thanks --- and 'good morning' <smile> Betty a/k/a Kyseeker of Kentucky and Indiana kyseeker@dynasty.net =========================== Indiana State InGenWeb Coordinator - http://www.rootsweb.com/~ingenweb/ Vanderburgh Co., In - http://www.rootsweb.com/~invander/vand.htm Trigg Co., Ky - http://www.usroots.com/~kyseeker/trigg/trigg.html Christian Co., Ky - http://www.usroots.com/kyseeker/public_html/christian/christian4.htm Betty a/k/a Kyseeker of Kentucky and Indiana kyseeker@dynasty.net =========================== Indiana State InGenWeb Coordinator - http://www.rootsweb.com/~ingenweb/ Vanderburgh Co., In - http://www.rootsweb.com/~invander/vand.htm Trigg Co., Ky - http://www.usroots.com/~kyseeker/trigg/trigg.html Christian Co., Ky - http://www.usroots.com/kyseeker/public_html/christian/christian4.htm

    1. Old Letters
    2. My 93 year old cousin - John Steele McCormick III - in 1988 - made a book for our family - out of some old letters that had been handed down to him. He is not able to do genealogy any more but would really love to hear - if there are connections that are found. I thought I would put some of these old letters on the Henderson List - as that it where most of them were written from. To Sidney Dyer McCormick from "Aunt Matt" when she was eleven. Henderson, Dec 6, 1868 Dear Brother, I received your letter about two weeks ago. But as Pa wrote last Sunday I thought I would wait till today. Miss Allie is married and has been for two or three weeks. I like to go to school very well. I am almost through my arithmetic and it is getting right hard. If it was not for my help I would never get along. Mr. Norments (?)'s sons got into a fight and the oldest stabbed the next oldest several times and cut him in his arm severely. He lived about a week and then died. They were Miss Jefferies brothers. Pa has just come from the river and Uncle William Shelby came with him. George is well and all your friends on the river (are). Uncle William is going to be married to Miss Beck Stites a little after Christmas. Cousin Gussie is going to be married and Miss Cheatham that is maybe and probably. Cousin Nan and Mr. Wilson. George is going on the river next year. He is making the arrangements now. Pa got a letter from a man this evening wanting to know if he would write him the particulars and he wanted to buy it. Miss Glass got a letter from Nannie. We heard from her through her. Miss Florence sends her best respects to you. Ma, pa, Ida, Aib (?), Ed, Jud, and all the family send their love. Lee sends a kiss. Lee knows her letters. Give my love to Miss Sallie and Miss Nannie. From your affectionate sister, Mattie E. McCormick P.S. Excuse short letter for you wrote such a short one to me. Write soon. judy

Her children all died in childhood, and there is no husband buried with/near her, so I have no idea who her husband was. I posted her will on the Henderson County GenWeb page at this address: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ky/HendersonWill?read=10 She seems to have been a very interesting person of some means and I would like to know more about her, and find out about her husband. She was a daughter of William Hickman, the Kentucky Baptist preacher of Forks of Elkhorn. Her sister, Sally Hickman was married to John Cunningham. They were the parents of Fountain Cunningham. 3. Hopkinsville New Era SEVERE ACCIDENT TO A LADY Apr 19, 1879 We are pained to learn that a very serious accident happened to MISS MOLLIE MORTON, of Madisonville, last Sunday while she was on a visit to friends at Earlington. She got on a train at the depot, in company with some friends, to ride to to the 'coal dip,' about a mile distant. On arriving, while in the act of jumping from the train, her clothing caught on the draw head of the rear coach, which caused her to fall heavily upon the track, breaking both bones in the left leg jut above the ankle. Dr. Davis who was at once sent for, set the broken limb, and kind friends gave her all attention possible. She was taken home amonday and we learned on Wednesday was as comfortable as she could well expect to be under the circumstances. Miss Mollie has a host of warmly attached friends in this city who deeply sumpathize with her in her misfortune and suffering.
