Especially descendants of the following Mattingly marriages: John Mattingly marriage to Charlotte McGill, Union County, KY on 26 December, 1821. Believe issue to be Stephen Mattingly and James Mattingly. WHAT HAPPEN TO CHARLOTTE MCGILL? Suspect death of the above Charlotte McGill before 1828. This John Mattingly died July, 1850. Sarah Hart remarried a James Hall 24 April, 1853 at St Vincents. Believe the above John Mattingly was a son of Jeremiah Mattingly and Sarah Shanks. There is another John Mattingly who married a Nancy Lay June, 1822 in Union County, KY. I have tracked him to Lewis County, Missouri where he died on 29 December, 1873. Children born to this marriage (Isabella (Briscoe), Samuel Davis, Mary A.(1st Carnegy, 2nd Moore), Katherine (Agee), Jane (Ashbury)). WHO ARE THE PARENTS OF THIS JOHN MATTINGLY? 1. Re: Old Murphy School
    2. Greetings, I'm trying to track down information on a bit of oral history. My family says there was an old MURPHY school run on the eastern edges of Henderson Co. (read: near Daviess Co). My MURPHY's descend from Ed. Wm. MURPHY who lived in Reed/Stanley, KY. I was told these schools were great for keeping lists like students, their parents and other geneaological tidbits. Would this stuff be housed in the County archives now do you think? Tks, DJMurphy Louisville, KY DJMurphy79@aol.com

    2. I am searching for information on Hayden Woodring. He married Elsie Marvin Oakley in 1918. Hayden was born in 1896 and died in 1958. I have been told that he was an electrical engineer. I know that Elsie and Hayden lived in Henderson, KY and are buried in the Roselawn cemetery. I remember going to visit Elsie, but Hayden had already past away. I believe his father's name is Frank and his mother's name was Nora Ashbridge. Frank's father's name was Gabriel. But I have no proof. My great uncle, the son of Hayden and Elsie, can not remember any details. Please help me if you can. Thank you.

I know that with my ISP the messages are deleted from the ISP server *only* if the whole batch is delivered successfully at one time. If I receive 20 messages and for some reason my modem disconnects or there's a glitch in the midst of downloading them, say at message 15, the next time I download more mail, I get duplicates of the 15 messages already delivered from the last batch, plus the 5 that never made it. This is preferable to having the last 5 deleted at the ISP server before delivery. Maybe that's what's happening now and then? Regards, Terri

    2. Hi Virginia, As I recall, the library opens at 9:00 am (not sure of the closing hours ) and the genealogy room is always open when the library is open (even on Sundays). There is a gentleman that is usually there at one of the microfilm readers by the name of Mister Blue. He was the one that compiled the map, and information, of Henderson County cemeteries. It's quite comprehensive, even showing old cemeteries on farms throughout the county. I made a trip to Henderson last October to do some research (I grew up in Henderson. I now live in South Carolina) and I purchased the map. You can also purchase it through the Henderson County Genealogy Society (on-line). It is quite inexpensive . . . $5.00 and a very good investment that you may consider. If I can be of any further help please let me know. Bill Chase

    2. Virginia, I live in California and go home to Henderson every year and would just like to add that if you get to the library you will most likely see a little man sitting at a viewer and his name is James Blue. He has written a few record books, death, cemetery plots etc, he loves to help people and if you have any questions he is always willing to help. I have all of these books and more if you would like for me to look up anything for you let me know.
