No, I know of no one. Wish I did because I need Union County myself. If you hear of anyone please let me know. Thanks >>> <DBittmann@aol.com> 07/07 4:24 PM >>> Do you know of anyone who would do the look ups for Union and Daviess counties?
Cost for a courthouse search depends largely on how long it takes her. If she can find you an answer fairly quickly (say within an hour), it's only around $15.00 to cover her time, xeroxing, postage and handling. A more in depth look would of course cost more. She would need as much information that you can give her. She's really reasonable and good at what she does. If anyone would be interested, please e-mail me directly with your snail mail addy and phone number and I will give you her information so that you two can correspond and or talk to one another about your research questions. My grandmother was Gertrude Naomi Woodring. (b. 1919 in Henderson Co. KY) I am still struggling with my Woodring line. I know that my grandmother was the daughter of Hayden Woodring (1896-1958)and Elsie Marvin Oakley (1897-1980). She was the granddaughter of William Francis Woodring (1870-1/1932) and Nora Ashbridge (1872-1915) William Francis Woodring was the son of Gabriel Woodring (He may be Gabe Abner Woodring) I do know that his death notice in Henderson County says that his father's name was Gabe Woodring and his mother was ? Mayberry. I'm still trying to figure out just exactly who William Francis' father was. If his father was Gabriel Abner Woodring....son of William and Alisha Ragsdale or Eliza Jane Banks then I have my connection to the Wotring and Vautrin lines...... Can you help me? Thanks Starla
Ok, I have some relatives from Uniontown and I am trying to get them to get me some stuff on our lines, I will post here if I find anyone who does the look ups. I am researching Horton, Pulliam, Cline, Sheridan, Below, Harris, Jones, Mc Carty from Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois Dorothy

Do you know of anyone who would do the look ups for Union and Daviess counties?
Hi all Union County is about 6 hours from my home. I had taken these pictures a couple of years ago and don't know when I'll be back. I'll be glad to scan in photographs for anyone and add them to the tombstone site, would that help? The only St. Peters Cem. I have is in Waverly. It's just a hilltop really; no trees, fences, gates. Thanks for the comments Mary Lee
I've been following the conversations about finding the tombstones/burial sites of people. I hate to be discouraging but sometimes our ancestors just didn't bother with marking the site. For example, my great-great-grandfather and his wives and children are all buried on his farm outside Metropolis, Illinois, in a little fenced area with no stones. My grandmother remembers seeing the area and being told by her father that that was where his family was buried (in the 1850s-1880s). Also a lot of of the stones in Kentucky were soft sandstone which became lumps after awhile even if they had been carved originally. Nina
How wonderful. Any chance you might do them later for the protestant ones like Ark Royale Cemetery? I would certainly be interested, since I could not find some of the graves I looked for on a 95 degree day two summers ago. I live 450 miles away and haven't been able to return. I could offer you an Ohio lookup in return. Mary Wallace.
In a message dated 99-06-27 19:22:55 EDT, you write: << I'm putting up photos of tombstones at marythomas.homepage.com. I've only got St. Vincents so far, but plan on adding St. Peters, St. Anns, St. Ambrose in Sturgis. Mary Lee Thomas >> What a wonderful service. Thank you. Would you be meaning St. Peters of Stanley, KY? I am most eager for that since my MURPHYs were members there approx 1860 - 1950. I'm not sure who I have buried there. Shucks, even a listing of MURPHYs at St. Peters would be great. DJMurphy Louisville, KY DJMurphy79@aol.com

Netta, Re: Rachel's final resting place--did you know there is a Marrs Typ. in Posey Co? And it seems and people from Henderson Co., KY, easily traveled (and quite often) to Vanderburgh and Posey Counties in IN. They just ferried the Ohio at Henderson and came out between Mt. Vernon (Posey Co, IN) and Evansville, IN (Vanderburgh Co., IN). So it is quite possible that Rachel was ferried to Posey Co to be buried. Good luck in finding Rachel. Mike: They were talking truthfully. KY death records begin 1911 and the KDI (KY Death Index is online at a number of sites.) Your other options are a search of cemetery tombstone transcriptions or cemetery records themelves, funeral home records, obits. Course, you need to nail down an approximate time period for the death. I think I deleted your first email so the precise info you do have escapes me. If you send it again (and you can send it to cinnfull@msn.com), I'll see what else I can think of. Mary
Thanks Netta, Rachel is my "big" mystery. I wonder if Capt. Dixon may have shipped her body back to Posey or Vanderburgh Co., in Indiana for burial with her family. However, her children were Paul Jones Marrs and Mary Marrs Barnett or Burnett and they were in Henderson Co., and are buried there. Thanks again. If she's here Mary I can't find her. She's not listed in any of my books. Sorry........... Netta - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------ I assume she is probably buried in Henderson County, Kentucky since that is the last place I found her on a census and Capt. Payne Dixon is buried in Henderson County. - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------ I am looking for the burial place of Rachel Stinson Marrs Dixon. She was married first to Samuel R. Marrs who is buried in Posey County, Indiana. Rachel married 2nd. to Capt. Payne Dixon. Apparently, she died before him, as he shows up in later census records than she does. If anyone can help,
