    3. Just wanted to say that I enjoyed my short visit to Henderson. I was only there for a couple of hours, but enjoyed the library. Actually felt more at home there then in the large Allen County library. More hometown stuff. Made it to the Fernwood cemetary and took pictures of a few gravestones, thanks to Nella info. Henderson sounded like a ghost town during the Civil War, behind Union lines. My ancestor Malloure was capture there. It makes me wonder what happen. There isn't a recorded battle at this time - July 1864 and one article I read (diary notes), said that a mom was turning in her confederates soldier son because she was afraid on what the Union soldiers would do to them. Gamiata Malloure married in Henderson in1861, son b. Jan. 1862(Henderson or possibliy Hopkinsville) enlisted Aug 1862 Henderson, captured 1863 Henderson, released in 1865 ... but no record of him making it home. Was he captured trying to protect his family or did he move them out of town? More questions? Barb Malloure

    2. Believe me, Nancy, if I found anything on your guy Joseph, you'd be the first to know!! I've been trying to spend a little more time on some other lines not in Henderson county because they were seeming a little neglected, but I'm not really getting anywhere on them either. Hope all is well with you, Nina

    2. Hi, I'm not familiar with Lilly Farley, but she probably ties in somewhere. I think several brothers may have come to Henderson Co. about the same time......or cousins. I know there's some connection with the Farleys and Williams in the Zion area way back there. Sally

    2. Hi, Netta...... I'm looking for anything on the Farley family of Zion that might pinpoint their roots..........you might remember some of them......Nellie, taught second grade at Seventh Street school for forty or more years, Lucille, treasurer of Henderson Co. for upteen years, Quinn, who sold magazines by phone as he was handicapped.......Sara and Mildred, my mother.......they were the children of Walter Earl and May Brooks Farley. He was a grocer in Zion. His parents were Roberta Augusta Farley and Sterling Austin Decauter Farley. I think her parents were Henry Farley and Elizabeth Penick, maybe of Hardin Co. They were first cousins. Sterling's parents were Robert A. Farley and Mary Wood, both of Virginia and the original family members to come to Henderson County. Most of them (the older ones) are buried in the Farley cemetery on the Airline Road......most of the rest in Fernwood. I'm just trying to pinpoint death and birth dates, reasons for death, marriage dates, etc. etc. and any published history of the family. They were early pioneers of the Zion area....... My mother married Arthur Robinson Kasey, who worked at the Gleaner and was the West Kentucky reporter for the Evansville Press for many years. His parents were Henry Porter Kasey and Cora Duncan, of Daviess Co. Thanks for all the good work you all do........ Sally Kasey Emily

    3. I'm going through my books now, so some of this you may already know. >My grandmother was Gertrude Naomi Woodring. (b. 1919 in Henderson >Co. KY) I know that my grandmother was the daughter of Hayden Woodring (1896->1958)and Elsie Marvin Oakley (1897-1980). Found these two Woodring listings in our Gone, But Not Forgotten book: Hayden C. Woodring b) 18 Mar 1898 d) 9 Jul 1958 Essie Oakley Woodring b) 30 Dec 1897 d) 29 Feb 1980 No Woodring listings in the Death Records, 1839 - 1911 book. No Woodring listings in the Interment Records book. >She was the granddaughter of William Francis Woodring (1870-1/1932) and Nora >Ashbridge (1872-1915) >William Francis Woodring was the son of Gabriel Woodring (He may be >Gabe Abner Woodring) I do know that his death notice in Henderson County says >that his father's name was Gabe Woodring and his mother was ? Mayberry. No Woodring listings in the Early Marriages in Henderson County, KY >I'm still trying to figure out just exactly who William Francis Woodring's father was. If >his father was Gabriel Abner Woodring....son of William and Alisha Ragsdale >or Eliza Jane Banks then I have my connection to the Wotring and Vautrin >lines...... No listing of Woodring in the 1850, 1860, 1870 or 1880 census records. I would have thought some of them would have shown up in the census records. Are we still talking about Henderson County on the above? Sorry I wasn't much help to you. Sincerely, Netta Mullin First Vice Henderson Co. Historical & Genealogical Society
