The federal records (National Archives) proved useful for tracing my ancestors who lived in, and around, Hart County. On the pension forms of the Civil War Soldiers were the marriage dates, family names, and birthdates of children and spouses!. Also, these pension forms identified that the original records were filed in the Hart County Courthouse. Of course, the Courthouse later burned, but the records in the National Archives provided a means to discover the marriage dates, and to track children through means other than wills, and marriage bonds, all of which burned!
