Edward I have not traced my line of Skaggs to VA yet I plan to go to KY in July and do some footwork Here is my line William (Bill) Aaron Skaggs married Mary Dodge, Edmondson, KY (he married 2 more times) their children Martin Skaggs married Sarah Brewster John CHAUDOIN Skaggs married Nancy Quessinberry Clark Skaggs married Kate Layman Sam Skaggs married Addie Hatfield I think that Aaron Skaggs who married Nancy Meredith birthed William Aaron Skaggs and started the line Yes I am curious about Choudain(?) name and the connection with Cherokee ancestory If anyone has more on the people listed above it would be appreciated. I have Kate Layman traced back to the ship that the family came here on. However, Jacob Warren Layman, Kate's father married a Malinda Cynthia Nally. The Nally's are listed in the 1850 census, but the family is a mystery. They seem to venture to KY and Indiana.
