Hi, I am interested in information on the Waddle and Ooley families who wound up in Missouri (Greene and Dade Counties) and Arkansas. Specifically, descendants of David Waddle and Kesiah DeHart and Peter Ooley, who married Polly/Mary Clark in Hart County in 1810 and eventually was a pioneer in Greene County, MO. The name Ooley can be spelled various ways: Wooley, Owley, for instance. Linda S.
Can you post or email me direct the email or snail mail address for this cousin doing the Thompson line research? Mary "Polly" Sanders Thompson was my great-great-grandmother. Are we related? Charles Thompson
I live in Indianapolis - you are so lucky to have a living relative that is 92! My mom is still with us, and she is 77 - I feel lucky about that! She has told me a lot about what she remembers her mom and dad talking about, and a lot of the customs in that area. She doesn't remember much first hand as she was 6 weeks old when they moved to Indiana. I bought a book about the area by Norman Warnell and she started reading it and it sparked many memories for her. We just last year went to the Thompson reunion in Cub Run, KY. First time. I have found many more cousins online since joining this site. One of the cousins is doing the research on the Thompson line now - he has a lot of really great pictures and lives in KY close to Cub Run. Does your mom remember anything about Mary Polly Sanders? This is so cool! Mona
Mona, thanks for swift reply. I will ask Mom in the am about her memories of Polly, as I am sure she has some. I think I have written down all I can get, but never know if this will be a good reminder. Your cousin must be Doug Thompson. I have not met him, but I have heard his name mentioned often over the years. I think I have a photo of a soldier with a rifle he says is one of our Thompsons, but I don't know if it is certain. Do you know of that one? I was at a Thompson reunion at Cub Run 8-10 yrs ago. A lot has changed since then. An aunt, Nina Thompson Surface was there and she is now in a nursing home in Lsvl with something like Alzheimers. Mom can't travel any more and an aunt by marriage has died. But I always tried to take pictures and ask questions. Mostly, people tried to learn from me! I have been trying to collect data for about 35 yrs. Keep my e-mail address and we can keep in touch. Hi sorry it has taken me a little to get back with... I am in digest mode. OK. That gets me a little clearer on some of the Merry's. Here a while back though I was told that Millian Webb who married Robert Hazelip (& lived in Rutherford & Buncombe Cos.) was not actually sister or daughter to Merry. One of the Millian's married a John or Thomas Hall and went to Tennessee from Rutherford Co., NC. Yet, of the other Webb's that were in Rutherford, and later Buncombe Co., NC. The one who married the Hall was a great deal older than Millian, wife of Robert. But at the same time I have not been able to find any actual records of which Webb she belongs and whose family later came to Hart, Edmonson, Warren & Barren Cos. area. On the Hazelip's I had asked about - I had found some records to that effect in Edmonson, but one or two names over the years did not always fit on the census, as compared to the court records. Now, I know that bit. Now that brings up the question - how are Thomas Puckett (married Alsey Webb) and Rebecca Puckett (married Robert Hazelip, jr) related to each other? Is she a sister of Thomas? I have no birth or death dates on her. Have any of the early Hart Co marriage records survived or is it limited to the sporadic ones from 1852-1907? I did not see any listed at LDS. Zandra
Where to begin? My Hart county surnames begin with Atterberry, later Atteberry (all of any spelling are related). The distaff lines include Brashear, Reynolds, McCubbin, Sidebottom, True, Key(es). Related through the Brashear line are Self, Wilkerson, Logsdon, Puckett, Huss, Pennebaker, Walters, and Friend. My mother's lines include Moss in Green County. My lines cover Hart, LaRue, Green, and Barren County. I am working on a book on early Hart County families, especially the Atterberrys and am seeking additional information on them. I have most of the published material and am seeking Bible records and letters, etc. Marguerite Atteberry Emmons

Happy Resurrection Day to all! I'm researching the Cook line of Benjamin Cook (b. abt 1726 in VA & d. abt 1806 in either Hart or Green Co. and his "mystery" wife???) His son Jarrett W. Cook (who was his wife?), down to Richard Cook m. Caroline Beasl(e)y (d/o Corneleus Beasly and his wife, does anyone know her name???) ... of Hart/Green Counties. It seems all these families lived "on the line"... between what's now Hart and Green Co. boundaries! I am also researching the Tucker line of Pascal Tucker (b. 7/1791 in NC, d. 8/1821 in Hart/Green Co) married to Mary (Polly) Pentecost. Their son Eppes Tucker married to Lucinda Webb (possibly the daughter of Elijah? Webb ... does anyone have that information?), down to Maud Tucker (d/o Lorenza Willis, s/o Eppes & Mary/Polly) who married Lorenza Willis Cook (s/o Richard & Caroline). I'm also researching the collateral lines of the Kidds, Davenports, Hensleys, Huffs, any stray Hamlets, and a few McCubbins (who moved into Central Illinois in the early 1900s ....) Good hunting to all of us! Kate Beaugrand Cook, Nashville, TN rcnkc@compaq.net

I am researching Judd and Bell of Hart and Green Counties, KY for the period prior to 1875. I am a descendant of Thomas Judd and Sarah Ann Bell who were married c. 1848 probably in Green Co. They were in Hart Co. KY from at least 1850 to the 1870's. Thomas Judd was the son of Nathaniel Judd and Mary Kessler. Sarah Bell was the daughter of William and Milley Bell.
