I think the connection is through Nancy D. West. Some say either she or her mother was suppose to be full blood Cherokee. Others say Indian Princess. I'm afraid that is all I have to go on. I am looking for any information on the Hart Co. West family. The names that I am searching are Nancy D. , Sallie, and Benjamin West. they tie in to the Logsdon Family. If any one has any information please get in touch with me. The West family that I am seeking had a Cherokee Indian connection. Thanks TM
On the Hart-Edmonson Co. line near the Great Salts Cave was a parcel of land 109ac. by survey granted to William West in 1802. At that time Edmonson Co. was in Warren Co. Joining this survey was another 200 ac. survey of West's. Some of William West's heirs at law were: William West, John West, Polly Miller, James Miller, jemimah Rattles & Alexander Rattles. The Doyels obtained the 109ac. survey by 1841. Can you tell me what the Indian connection is? Norman Warnell
Too bad no one can trace those jewells back from Robert. Maybe that is your mission!!! Betty
Hi Betty: I think we have emailed. My NEALs came from the Powell County area and were not involved with my JEWELLs. The JEWELL family was in Hart County area until about 1916. I have the family back thru Robert JEWELL, but not a lot of 'fleshing out'. Sincerely... At 11:01 AM 6/9/2000 -0400, you wrote: >My husband has Jewells and Neals. Got names and dates and places? My information is the same as yours. I got mixed up last night with Nancy A. and Annie. I had the same source on them the 1880 census which since Annie died in 1861 is a definite error on my part. I am sorry for the confusion. However, after checking my information again in the light of day I see that my Robert A. Reams was married to Annie West. My info on William K and Maria/Martha/my records also Mariah stops with them. What I have on Maria/Martha/Mariah was gathered from the Logsdon/Reames bible records. According to some information I found on the internet which was submitted by Mary McCann, they were copied from the original bible records of Thomas Reames Oct 27 1975. I tried sending it to you but in case it did not make it the address is: http://members.tripod.com/tracers/logsdon.htm Cecillia -----Original Message----- From: Wilbertk@aol.com <Wilbertk@aol.com> To: KYHART-L@rootsweb.com <KYHART-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Thursday, June 08, 2000 1:06 PM Subject: Re: [KYHART-L] LOGSDON >Hello >I would like to have a copy of your family tree for Robert A. WILBERT, I would appreciate a copy of the information you have. My Kessinger/ Logsdon connection information is almost nonexistent. I have mainly information on the branch of the family that came to Greene/Macoupin Counties in Illinois. I have Annis Kessinger daughter of Benjamin Lynn Kessinger married Silas Logsdon in 1846 and names only, no dates for eight of their children. Thank you for anything you can send. My E-mail is jktgsax@aol.com TOM SAXTON
