    3. Hello Edward, Sandi gave me a address of a Historical Society in a Square. Is that the Barrens in Glasgow? Is that and the Hart County one in the same? My father is bring me and he knows about Hart County. I believe I've been there once and that was on the way but from Flordia. We stopped to get some tomatoes and peaches. I live in Louisville and I believe if I tired to make this trip only with a 6 month old baby. I would be doomed!!!!!!!!!!! 3. Edward, I am interested in any and all records of Ruth Tharp at the Boiling Springs Baptist Church. You indicate she was a charter member. I have heard she was dismissed about 1836 and wondered if you had anything on that. I believe it may be because she remarried Thomas Atterberry, my ancestor as he is listed as her husband in the settlement in Hardin County of Ruth's 1st husband's estate in 1837. Thomas was probably a Methodist-Episcopal as his descendants who remained in Hart County were members of CampGround Church. By the way, does anyone have any records of CampGround? My 2greats grandfather Jefferson L. Atteberry was supposed to have been superintendent of Sunday School, before his death in 1880's. His wife Elizabeth was a Sunday school teacher and I have something written to her by a student in 1864. Marguerite

    1. [KYHART-L] Re: Tax Records for Hart County
    2. Jim and Marguerite Emmons
    3. To all, Wow, did I stir up something! Yes, the tax tecords are on microfilm at the State Archives in Frankfort on Coffeetree Road. I found the records for 1819-1875. The index says they exist through 1892 which will help. The early entries name only the head of h/h and the number of horses, cows and slaves. Later entries ask for the number of children in a h/h between 5-16 and later 5-20. The early records are in one book. Later records are North and South of Green River. Some of the last ones I saw began dividing the county into Tax Districts. At the rear of some of the books is an entry regarding some who are blind or crippled. I found on one page William G. Robertson (probable son of Daniel) who is said to have married Luraney (Mary S. or L.) Atterberry, daughter of Richard J. I'm glad to know the records are in the LDS records. I just thought I'd get the word out that they exist as generally we are told there are no records after the First Court Order Book and the 1819 tax records. I'll transcribe what I have and get it posted. Also, check the deed books. During 1928, after the fire, many of the old deeds were rerecorded. I had just gotten to those when the library closed. Using the rerecorded deeds may give us locations and some names to help fill in the deep well of the missing 1890 census. Also, does anyone have access to the 1920 census of Hart County? Marguerite

    2. Zandra Pearson
    3. Hi Marguerite and All; The tax lists are also available from LDS. I have found them EXTREMELY useful. They are also good to use to find out when a son came into his own and started his own family. Most counties have gaps, but for the most part they are a great replacement when census will just not do or is missing like the 1890. Biggest downside is that it only lists the head of household. But even worse is if none have survived for the time frame you need. The tape # at LDS for Hart Co for the years 1819-31, 33, 35, 37 and 40-52 is # 8028. Most of it is pretty well legible. Hope this helps. Zandra Pinellas Park.

    1. [KYHART-L] Charlie Bibb Cook
    2. Kate Cook
    3. Hi, I'm researching the Cooks of Green/Hart Counties, KY and my husband's grandfather was Charlie Bibb Cook. He was born February 13, 1878 in Osceola, Green Co., Kentucky and died August 15, 1954 in Hardyville, Hart Co.,Kentucky and was married to Maud Tucker. Charlie was the son of Washington Taylor Cook (born May 16, 1837 in Green Co., KY and died March 04, 1913 in Hart Co., Kentucky) and Nancy Ellen Davenport (born September 14, 1842 in Green Co., Kentucky and died May 06, 1901). Maud was the daughter of Lorenzo Willis Tucker (born July 14, 1848 in Hart Co. and died May 15, 1929 in Hart Co.) and Harriet Lee Hensley (born November 11, 1853 and died December 04, 1904 in Hart Co.). My question is: where did the BIBB come from? Most families named children from previous generation family names. So far I haven't found a union of a COOK and a BIBB or a TUCKER and a BIBB, but I have found BIBB folks in Barren and Green County Census lists and even back in the previous census lists of Virginia, where I know my Cook and Tucker lines were before Kentucky. If anyone has information about any possibility of the Bibb-Cook or Bibb-Tucker connection, please get back to me at my email address. Thanks! Kate Beaugrand Cook KB_cook@msn.com

    2. The only Bibb I ever ran across was when I was looking at Absolom Hughes. He signed for his step daughter (a Bibb) to marry. I just assumed that one of his wives either Lucy or Sarah was a Bibb. You might want to look at the Hughes. SandyLee Davison Michigan

I managed to copy the A's for many of the years until 1875. The 1819 is on Brenda Smeltzer's site but I had not realized records existed for later years. In just searching for Atteberry (any spelling) I discovered a great deal of information to help locate families missed by census, and also narrow the gap of years as to when a family left Hart County. If you are ever in Frankfort, check them out. Marguerite Atteberry Emmons
