Thanks to Judy for the info on CRUMP ~~~~~~Doris
Hollie, The little community of Kessinger is on Hwy. 88 west of Munfordville. It is approximately 4.5 miles from Munfordville. The easiest way to get there from Munfordville would be to go to the only caution light in town (you will see Hart Co. Bank & Trust building at the intersection) and turn on Hwy. 88 at the bank (signs are posted). You will come to a sharp curve about two blocks down, just bear to the right and keep going until you come to the sign for Kessinger. Make a turn to the right on Macon-Kessinger Road (the only right you can make after you pass the town sign) and you will see the church off to the your immediate left. The cemetery is beside the church. A blue Wilkerson Temple United Methodist Church sign is on Hwy. 88 where you will turn. A beautiful country church setting.... Hollie, The Cemetery in question will be a short drive from Munfordville. I believe you go out Hwy. 88 toward Cub Run. I have been to the Cemetery for a couple of funerals. The cemetery is located right beside the church building. It is well kept and maintained. Hello Yes the address that Sandi gave you is the Museum. And No it is not the same as the Hart Co Hist Soc. The first is in Glasgow, KY and the second in Munfordville KY. Beleive me, I remember the days when mine was 6 months old. It was major work to go anywhere. Good luck on you trip. I would call ahead to the Hart CO Hist Soc to be sure they will be open when you arrive. I don't beleive there is a fee either. They do have a few thing for sale. Another place is the Museum of the Barrens in Glasgow on the Square. They also have a good number of genealogy books for sale as well as a research area. Also every issue of Traces. And in Greenburg is the Public Lib. which houses the Green CO Hist Soc. information. Lots of Hart co stuff here as well. All free as far as I know. Just a note to all researchers who find that historical societies do not charge for perusing their files and materials: it is helpful if you do purchase something or do make a donation while you are there. That is their lifeblood - it keeps them going. $5 or more goes a long way. The super nice lady's name is Mary Willia Branstetter and I grew up next door to her in Munfordville. Hi Hollie, The phone number for Hart Co. Historical Society is (270) 524-0101 They are located right on the Main Street across from Dobson Pontiac and just a few yards down from the Courthouse. It doesn't cost anything to visit and seach through their material and files. The lady that works there is super nice and helpful. Wayne Hatcher
As far as I know they don't have use a street address. However, It is right on the main street of Munfordville--right across from Dobson Pontiac. Dobson's address is 100 Main Street. I don't remember the hours but it seems they open late and close early. (10:00-2:00?) You might want to call before you go. I don't think there is a fee charged for the use of their material. Hope this helps. Hello all, A couple of years ago I purchased the 1870 Hart County Census from Bond County Genealogical Society, P. O. Box 172, Greenville, Illinois 62246-0172. The phone number for Hart County Historical Society is 270-524-0101. I was looking through the Kentucky Cemetery List and came acrossed the Wilkerson Temple Methodist Church Cemetery. I seen a J.T. Logsdon born July 11, 1870 and died June 06,1915. I was wondering if anyone would have any connecting to this man. I do believe this is my grandfather Jesse Logsdon because he was born in July 1870 and died early 1900's in Hart County. My father has mentioned Kessinger Community before but could not remember exactly where it fit into the Family. How far is this cemetery from the Hart County Historical Society? and directions if anyone knows?
