ROLL CALL: STANDIFORD, CLARK, HILDRETH, DAYTON, MCDOWELL, BURKS, HOOTON, SHOALS, SWARTS, KILE, LOUDERBACK, WIGGINS COUNTIES: BOURBON, MASON, NICHOLAS, FLEMING, HARRISON, ROBERTSON Hello, I'm Marla in Venice, CA, alias: littoral@msn.com. My great-grandfather and his brother may have moved their DAYTON families west in 1906, but my beloved great aunts, uncles and grandmother remained 100-proof Kentuckians all their lives. I am tracing all ancestral lines back from where they merged in and about the Town of Mt. Olivet, Robertson Co. AQUILLA STANDIFORD (1741-1799) and his wife SARAH CLARK (1744-est. 1815) of MD, settled on Main Licking River, nr. Blue Licks Springs on land still in the family name. Early county boundary adjustments put them in Mason-Nicholas-Fleming-Nicholas Co. In 1794, their daughter, SARAH (1773-c.1835) married. SQUIRE HILDRETH (1770-1794) of Wythe Co., VA. They married in Bourbon Co. but settled across the Abner's Road from Standiford in (now) Nicholas Co. Dau. REBECCA (1798-1846) m. WILLIAM GARRETT DAYTON (1794-1863), son of . GARRETT DAYTON (c.1765-1830) and his wife MARY ANN (?) (c.1765-1840) are the great enigma in my research. They were in Mason Co. by 1794. Family tradition says they came from MD, but proof of their origins has eluded all researchers. From 1818-1830, the family lived concurrently in Nicholas Co. and Paris, Bourbon Co. Garrett was a stonemason, and the "brick wall" he built around his own history has become the gathering place where distant cousins meet. JOHN MCDOWELL (?-1816) came from PA and settled in Bracken Co. in 1799 on a commission as Justice of the Peace from Gov. James Garrard. John's wife was NANCY (BURKS[?] no dates). Their son, THOMAS MCDOWELL (1795-1873) married. 1) ISABELLA HOOTON (est.1795-1846), m. 2) LOUMILLA (USSELMAN) SHOALS. JAMES (JACOBUS) SWARTS (1758-1813) of Loudoun Co., VA, served in Lee's Dragoons in Rev. War and Battle of Blue Licks. He m. 1) JANE ROGERS and 2) (Mrs.) MARGARET THOMAS (1775-1867) and settled on bounty land in Mason Co., now Nicholas Co. A descendant [lineage not yet proved] JACOB SWARTS (c.1809-1854) m. ELIZABETH KILE (c.1809-1841) in Mason Co. Their son, JAMES M. SWARTS (1835-1902) married in Nicholas Co.. MARGARET LAUDERBACK (1829-1888), dau. of ISAAC LOUDERBACK (1796-1863) and his wife ELIZABETH WIGGINS (1803-1891). Earliest Louderback and Wiggins families were in Harrison Co.
