LOG CABIN, Tuesday September 5th 1916 Mrs. Susan Monson, a well known and highly esteemed woman and widow of the late Elijah Monson, who died in 19111, passed away at 12:55 o'clock Sunday morning at the home ofher son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Monson, of Indian Creek, after about two months illness of infirmities incident to old age. Mrs. Monson was formerly Miss Susan Hurley (Turley), daughter of the late John and Susan Turley, formerly a prominent couple of Nicholas county, and was born near Hooktown on Feby. 9, 1836. She had therefore passed her 80th year. Her father, who was a native of Bourbon county, died in 1875, and her mother, a native of Harrison, died in 1883, they settled in Nicholas about 100 years ago. She married Mr. Elijah Monson on March 4, 1858, the surviving children by this union being Mr. I. N. Monson, oof Cynthiana, Mrs. Lou Evans, Mrs. Ben W. Monson, Mrs Lafe Maffett, Mr. Jas. L. Monson, Mrs. R. F. Scott, all of this county. Mrs. Sal-- Pendicord, of bourbon, Mrs. Edna Smith, of this county, Messers William and James Turley, of Nicholas County. Mrs Monson was for many years a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church and was a devout member being a woman of fine Christian charaeter and many admirable qualities. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. S. H. Bargess, were held at the Indian Creek Baptist Church yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and burial occurred at Battle Grove cemetery. The pall bearers were Messers Luther R. Ammerman, IO. B. Patterson, J. W. Smith, H. f. Maffett, R. W. Rankin, and J. Arch Bailey.
