For those completely baffled by this message, we have been working toward resurrecting a classic book by William Perrin titled "The History of Bourbon, Scott, Harrison and Nicholas Counties." The project has been an outstanding success in that the books are now being printed and will be ready for shipment some time in mid-August. If you would like to read more about the Perrin book, check out my special web site at: http://www.shawhan.com/book.html Also, I want to remind everyone that I'm currently doing research on another project that should be of great interest to researchers of Bourbon County, Kentucky. Next year, I will publish a book titled "Early Families of Bourbon County, Kentucky: 1775-1820." I believe the book will become a classic for Bourbon County genealogists. My vision is to present a history and genealogy of many of the early families, incorporating genealogical data as well as biographical sketches and historical information culled from a multitude of sources: Perrin's History, Julia Ardery's research, E. Polk Johnson's "The History of Kentucky and Kentuckians," the "Early Bourbon Families" articles which appeared in the Kentuckian-Citizen, Paris, Kentucky newspaper from 1944-46, family genealogies such as "The Bedford Family of Virginia" by Billy Ray Bedford and Luetta Bedford Kirker, genealogies from many of you, and much, much more. The book will be approximately 900-1000 pages in length. If you have families that settled in Bourbon County, Kentucky between 1775-1820, I would LOVE to hear from you. Thanks, Bob Francis -- Bob Francis 1920A Butner St. Ft. Eustis, VA 23604 MY HOMEPAGE: http://www.shawhan.com/

    1. [KYHARRIS-L] Re: [KING-L] King information
    2. I am particularly interested in this KING line. Our earliest KING event was a marriage of Joseph KING (I have a picture of him.) to Catherine Rohr in 1835 in Harrison Co.,KY. I have a copy of their marriage lines. Of their children, Elvira KING m. McKendre TOADVINE in KY ca 1680 and Richard David KING m. Susan ROBINSON (nee SLADE) in 1865 in Harrison Co, KY. This is our line. Susan is the niece of Mckendra. I have the marriage lines of Richard and Susan. I also have a picture that includes Richard and Elvira (aka "Sis"). Richard died in the 1918 Flu Epidemic. I have his death certificate. Sure would like to break down the stonewall that I have batting my head against. In a message dated 6/20/99 9:42:46 PM Eastern Daylight Time, ppking@twcf.rr.com writes: << In 1799, James and Isaac King sons of Edward King, started from their father's with their families to make their future home in Kentucky. 3. This came to me from another list, thought I would forward it along: In case you ever wondered why a large number of your ancestors disappeared during a certain period in history, this might help. Epidemics have always had a great influence on people - and thus influencing, as well, the genealogists trying to trace them. Many cases of people disappearing from records can be traced to dying during an epidemic or moving away from the affected area. Some of the major epidemics in the United States are listed below: > > 1657 Boston Measles > 1687 Boston Measles > 1690 New York Yellow Fever > 1713 Boston Measles > 1729 Boston Measles > 1732-3 Worldwide Influenza > 1738 South Carolina Smallpox > 1739-40 Boston Measles > 1747 CT,NY,PA,SC Measles > 1759 N. 2. Gr, Gr, Gr grandfather, Jonathan Wm. Burns residing in Harrison Co., KY in 1849, shot and killed my grandmother on 12 Sept 1849. They married 8 Jan 1824 in the county. The murder took place in Claysville. I have been able to secure a portion of the trial through the LDS and it is unbelievable for that period of time. Family stories indicate there was a large newspaper account of the trial and his later escape. For l0 years I have looked for this and keep coming up with nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This has fascinated me for years. The jury found him guilty and he was sentenced to be hung till "dead". On the way to the gallows, he hit the jailer in the head and escaped. Yes, never to be seen again. Sounds just like a movie doesn't it? Don't really know how you find him after he escaped. Have not been able to locate her grave in the county either. Her name was Nancy Alice Fulton Burns. sometimes spelled Byrnes but court records did show Burns. I will be happy to share any information with anyone working this line and would love to hear from anyone with cemetery ideas or newspaper ideas. Jan In TX

    3. Hello I am researching the Waggoner's. I have some real gaps to fill. The line starts; Christian Waggoner, wife unknown,Washington County Pa, had a son Godfrey about 1750. Godfrey Waggoner was killed by indians in 1783 in Washington County, Pa.He was in the militia with a Peter Fryman. Godfrey had ~ 4 children in Pa; Margaret about 1773----? Rev. John Waggoner about 1774 ----? Christian Waggoner about 1775 (died in Hardin Co, Ky in 1841.) Susannah Waggoner about 1781.------? (I am descended from Christian Waggoner who had 11 children in Kentucky,in the area around Elk Lick that is now in Harrison County.) The questions; What happened to Margaret Waggoner? What happened to Reverend John Waggoner? What happened to Susannah Waggoner? Why did the Waggoner's move to Ky and by what route? Del Waggoner waggoner.2@osu.edu
