Thanks Philip. Thanks Jo.

Hi, I'll do Sylvandell Precinct in Harrison County, too. That just leaves Unity and Leesburg Precincts, plus the pages on Cynthiana (pp. 243-310), if you want those to add to the website. Hi, Several years ago I noticed an error in the 1870 (AIS: Accelerated Indexing Systems) index for Eastern Kentucky, and while doing some research the other day I was reminded of it again. If anybody has ancestors/relations in the Berry area (I believe it is referred to as "Berry's District" in the index) you might have seen it. All those who were living in the area of Berry's Station are actually indexed as being in HARLAN county, instead of HARRISON county. Harlan precedes Harrison on the 1870 reel of microfilm and whoever was indexing that roll must have forgotten, or not taken any notice of the fact, that there was a change in county when they got to "Berry's District." So, if you are looking for someone in the Berry area in 1870, keep in mind that the index has them in HARLAN, not HARRISON counties. At least that is what the edition we have here at the Indiana State Library says. Maybe it has been corrected since? And am I the only one who thinks the 1860 U.S. Census Index (AIS) for EASTERN KENTUCKY is the worst? Half of my direct line ancestors don't appear in the index, but I have been able to find them in the actual record. I have done research of quite a few family surnames, and one would think that these families shrank from 1850 to 1860 and then exploded in growth by 1870, as so many were not indexed properly in 1860. Just thought I'd pass along these musings in case someone else was having some troubles in finding their family members in 1860 and 1870. WE ARE NOT ALONE! (X-Files) Ha! Philip Naff.
Hi, I already have the Claysville, Berry, and Richland precincts of Harrison typed up and will send them to be posted. I also have the matching biographical portions typed up, too. Philip Naff. I just counted the number of subscribers to Scott and Harrison County mail lists, and there are many overlapping names, understandably. There are 137 people on Harrion's list and 134 on Scott's. Proposition: If different people would sign up to type out community bits from the Perrin book we could cover most of these "towns" in a short time. Then I can post them on the county web sites at www.rootsweb.com/~kyscott/ or www.rootsweb.com/~kyharris/ and others will be able to find out about the communities their ancestors lived in. OK? I decided last night I needed to post Big Eagle Precint, p. 208, and will put a link to my Mulberry page, since it mentions one of the pioneers as John Mulberry, and also mentions "Mulberry Road." Several years ago when I put up Rutland, p. 707, http://www.mindspring.com/~jogt/kygen/rutland.htm I combined it with biographical entries, but this time I'm not sure we should do it that way, since we now have the bio pages, with index, at GenConnect. Anyway, let me know if you think this is a good idea, and if you would/could participate. We don't want to overlap or duplicate services, so be sure to tell the list if/when you are selecting specific pages, or communities, to type. If you think this is a worthwhile project I'll send instructions later. Jo Thiessen List Administrator and KYGenWeb County Coordinator

To one and all, Some of you have noted that certain pages are missing from the Perrin book. I can only conjecture at this point that some of the original lithographs are missing. You will note that the narrative is intact. -- Bob Francis 1920A Butner St. Ft. Eustis, VA 23604 My Homepage is: http://www.shawhan.com Ruddell's Fort Page: http://www.shawhan.com/ruddlesfort.html
To one and all, I guess I'm not finished with this project after all--at least until everyone has received their books. Let me explain the reason why some folks have received their book early on while others are still waiting. I sent the books "book rate" which is basically the "slow-boat-to-China" approach. The post office sends this category at their convenience (space available) which means that the packages are shipped when there is room on the truck, plane, etc. Some of you got lucky and received your books quickly while others of you will have to wait until the slow boat arrives at your doorstep. -- Bob Francis 1920A Butner St. Ft. Word of caution! Not all you read in this book is accurate. Great as it is, for some reason there are individuals not mentioned, e.g. the brother of my great grandfather is not mentioned as a living son in the bio of Newton Henry. And Newton gives his father's name one way while his brother Lewis M. lists it another way. The new bio boards for each county are perfect spots for listing the bios - as is - since they are out of copyright. Some of them, along with the sketch about Rutland, I posted at the Harrison County web site several years ago, but now that others have the book it would be great if people utilized the spots that are indexed and will be found by many other searchers. http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ky/HarrisonBios the board is currently set to read only, but I can reset it if people will utilize it for entries without queries. It just makes the upkeep unbearable if/when it is misused. Philip, I am very interested in Berry and would appreciate any articles you have. My 2nd great-grandmother was Mary Ann Roberts who married Robert Stewart in Harrison Co. Robert was killed in the Civil War (1863) and Mary Ann married second, Louis/Lewis Richardson. Mary Ann lived in 1880 in Richland District, Currys Run. She is buried in Bensen Methodist Church Cemetery in Berry. Her father was George Roberts and her mother was Jane Bayless. I don't know anything about them and I have been unable to connect Robert Stewart with other Stewarts in Harrison Co. I am truly at that old brick wall. Thanks for any help.
